What You'll Need
- Lockly Flex Touch smart lock
- Phillips screwdriver
- 8 AA alkaline batteries
- Smartphone with Lockly app
- Existing single-cylinder deadbolt
Step 1: Check Compatibility
Lockly Flex Touch retrofits most standard single-cylinder deadbolt locks. It cannot be used with integrated, mortise, rim, or double-cylinder locks. Check that your existing deadbolt has a standard thumbturn on the interior.
Step 2: Remove Existing Interior Hardware
Remove the mounting plate/screws from your existing deadbolt's interior side. Keep the deadbolt mechanism and exterior hardware in place - only the interior thumbturn assembly is being replaced.
Step 3: Select and Install Mounting Plate
The Flex Touch includes both round and square mounting plates to match common deadbolt configurations. Choose the appropriate plate and thread the fingerprint sensor cable through the hole in your door.
Step 4: Position the Sensor
Adjust the biometric fingerprint sensor position on the exterior of the door as needed. The sensor should be easily accessible but protected from the elements.
Step 5: Install Batteries
Open the battery compartment by unscrewing the top cover screw and sliding the cover up. Install 8 AA alkaline batteries observing correct orientation. Replace the cover and tighten the screw.
Step 6: Complete Hardware Installation
Reinstall the exterior components and secure the interior Flex Touch unit to the mounting plate. Ensure the cable is not pinched and all connections are secure.
Step 7: Set Up the App
Download the LOCKLY app from the App Store or Google Play. Create an account and follow the in-app instructions to add your new lock via Bluetooth.
Step 8: Register Fingerprints
The Flex Touch can store up to 99 fingerprints. In the app, go to fingerprint settings, select which finger to register, tap "Start," and scan your finger until the registration beep confirms success.

Troubleshooting
- Fingerprint not recognized: Re-register finger; clean sensor; try different finger angle
- Lock not responding: Check battery level; ensure Bluetooth is enabled
- App can't find lock: Move closer to lock; restart Bluetooth on phone
