How to Set Up Your Nest Protect Smoke & CO Alarm (Wired)

What You'll Need

• Nest Protect Smoke & CO Alarm (Wired, 2nd Gen)
• Google Home app (iOS/Android)
• Google account
• 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network
• Existing wired smoke alarm wiring

Step-by-Step Setup

1. Turn off power: Switch off circuit breaker for existing smoke alarms
2. Remove old alarm: Disconnect existing smoke alarm
3. Connect wires: Attach wires to Nest Protect backplate
4. Attach backplate: Mount securely to ceiling or wall
5. Snap on Protect: Twist to lock Protect onto backplate
6. Turn on power: Restore circuit breaker
7. Open Google Home app: Tap "+" → "Set up device" → "New device"
8. Scan QR code: Scan code on back of Protect
9. Complete Wi-Fi setup: Connect to your network
