Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Charge the battery: Connect the included USB-C cable to the battery pack. The LED indicator shows red while charging and turns green when fully charged (4-5 hours for initial charge).
  2. Install the battery: Press the release button on the back of the camera to open the battery compartment. Insert the battery until it clicks into place. The camera will power on automatically.
  3. Open the Ring app: Tap "Set Up a Device" then select "Cameras" and choose "Spotlight Cam Plus Battery."
  4. Scan the QR code: Locate the QR code on the back of the camera and scan it with your phone. Alternatively, tap "Set Up Without Scanning" and select your camera model.
  5. Enter setup mode: Press and hold the orange button on the back of the camera until the ring light spins blue (about 5 seconds).
  6. Connect to Wi-Fi: Your phone will temporarily connect to the camera's setup network. Then select your home Wi-Fi network and enter the password. Wait for "Setup Complete" confirmation.
  7. Choose location: Name your camera location (e.g., "Backyard" or "Driveway") for easy identification.
  8. Mount the camera: Use the included mounting bracket as a template to mark drill holes. Drill pilot holes and secure the bracket with the provided screws. Attach the camera to the bracket by sliding it down and tightening the security screw.
  9. Adjust camera angle: Loosen the adjustment knob to position the camera for optimal viewing coverage. Tighten when satisfied.

Troubleshooting

  • Camera won't enter setup mode: Ensure battery is fully charged and properly seated. Press and hold the orange button for 10+ seconds to factory reset if needed.
  • Wi-Fi connection fails: Move the camera closer to your router during setup. Confirm you're using 2.4GHz network and password is correct.
  • Poor video quality: Clean the camera lens with a microfiber cloth. Check Wi-Fi signal strength in Device Health section of the app.
  • Battery draining quickly: High motion activity or cold weather affects battery life. Adjust motion sensitivity and frequency settings. Consider adding a Ring Solar Panel for continuous charging.
  • Spotlights not activating: Check that lights are enabled in device settings. Verify motion zones are properly configured.
