What You Will Need
- Ring Stick Up Cam Battery
- Ring app (iOS or Android) with an active account
- A 2.4 GHz WiFi network with a strong signal at the installation location
- USB-C charging cable (included) or Ring Solar Panel (sold separately)
- Mounting bracket and screws (included) if wall-mounting
- Phillips screwdriver or drill (for wall mounting)
Step 1: Charge the Battery
Before setting up your Stick Up Cam, fully charge the rechargeable battery pack. Connect the included USB-C cable to the battery and plug it into a USB power adapter. The LED on the battery will turn green when fully charged, which takes approximately five to six hours.
Step 2: Insert the Battery
- Press the orange button on the back of the camera to release the back cover.
- Slide the fully charged battery into the compartment until it clicks into place.
- Reattach the back cover by pressing it firmly until it snaps shut.
Step 3: Set Up in the Ring App
- Open the Ring app and tap Set Up a Device.
- Select Cameras, then choose Stick Up Cam.
- Scan the QR code on the bottom of the camera or on the Quick Start Guide.
- The app will prompt you to press the orange button on the camera to enter setup mode. The camera's light will spin blue.
- Connect to the camera's temporary WiFi network when prompted.
- Select your home 2.4 GHz WiFi network and enter your password. The Stick Up Cam Battery does not support 5 GHz networks.
- Wait for the camera to connect. Once successful, name the camera and assign it to a location.
Step 4: Choose Your Placement
The Stick Up Cam Battery is versatile and can be used indoors or outdoors. You have three placement options:
- Flat surface — Set the camera on a shelf, table, or countertop using the built-in base.
- Wall mount — Use the included mounting bracket and screws to attach the camera to a wall or fence.
- Ceiling mount — Attach the bracket to a ceiling for a downward-looking view.
Position the camera at a height of three to four feet for indoor use or seven to nine feet for outdoor use. Angle it slightly downward to capture faces and activity at ground level.
Step 5: Adjust Motion Settings
- In the Ring app, select your Stick Up Cam and tap Motion Settings.
- Use Motion Zones to define specific areas you want the camera to monitor. This helps reduce false alerts from passing cars or tree movement.
- Adjust the Motion Sensitivity slider to find the right balance between catching important events and avoiding excessive notifications.
- Set a Motion Schedule if you want to disable alerts during certain hours.
Tips for Best Performance
- Battery life varies based on activity but typically lasts six to twelve months. High-traffic areas drain the battery faster.
- For continuous power, consider adding a Ring Solar Panel, which keeps the battery topped up with sunlight.
- Avoid pointing the camera directly at bright light sources or reflective surfaces, as this can trigger false motion alerts.
- A Ring Protect subscription is required to save and review recorded video. Without it, you can only view live video.
