What You'll Need
- Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro
- Wyze app (iOS or Android)
- 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network
- Existing outdoor junction box with three wires (hot, neutral, ground)
- Screwdriver and voltage tester
Important: This is a hardwired installation. If you are not comfortable working with household wiring, hire a licensed electrician.
Step-by-Step Setup
- Turn off power at the circuit breaker. Do not just flip the light switch. Use a voltage tester on the wires to confirm there is no power.
- Remove the old fixture from the junction box. Take a photo of the wiring before disconnecting anything.
- Mount the bracket to the junction box using the included hardware.
- Connect the wires:
- Black to black (hot)
- White to white (neutral)
- Green or bare copper to green (ground)
Tug each connection to confirm it is secure, then tuck wires into the box.
- Attach the floodlight to the bracket and tighten it down.
- Turn on power at the breaker.
- Set up in the Wyze app: Tap "+", select Cameras, then Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro. Scan the QR code and connect to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
- Aim the floodlight heads. Loosen the adjustment knobs, angle the lights, and retighten.
Key Features to Configure
- Motion-Activated Lighting: The 2600-lumen floodlights turn on when motion is detected. Adjust sensitivity to avoid triggering on passing cars or animals.
- 2K Video: Records at 2K with a 180-degree field of view. Configure a detection zone to focus alerts on your yard instead of the street.
- Continuous Recording: Since it is hardwired, insert a microSD card for 24/7 local recording without cloud storage.
- Siren: Trigger a loud siren from the app as a deterrent.
Platform Integration
- Alexa: Link the Wyze skill to view the feed on Echo Show or Fire TV and control the floodlights by voice.
- Google Home: Connect your Wyze account to stream video on Nest Hub displays. The floodlights show up as controllable lights.
- Home Assistant: Use the Wyze HACS integration or enable RTSP for direct video streaming.
Troubleshooting
- Lights not triggering: Check that motion-activated lighting is on in the app. Increase sensitivity and detection range.
- Camera on but lights off: The lights have a separate toggle in the app -- make sure they are not manually turned off.
- Wi-Fi drops: Outdoor cameras often sit far from the router. A Wi-Fi extender in a window or garage facing the camera can help.
- False alerts from bugs: Insects attracted to the warmth trigger constant alerts in summer. Lower sensitivity and exclude the area around the lights with a detection zone.
- Factory reset: Turn off the breaker for 10 seconds, turn it back on, then hold the setup button until you hear "Ready to connect."
