What You'll Need

  • Wyze Cam Pan v3
  • Wyze app (iOS or Android)
  • 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network
  • USB power adapter and cable (included)
  • microSD card (optional, for local recording)

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Plug in the camera using the included USB cable and power adapter.
  2. Wait for the voice prompt. After about 30 seconds, the camera will say "Ready to connect." If you do not hear this, hold the setup button on the bottom until you do.
  3. Open the Wyze app and sign in to your account.
  4. Add the camera: Tap "+", select Cameras, then Wyze Cam Pan v3. Follow the on-screen prompts.
  5. Scan the QR code. Hold your phone about 6 inches from the camera lens. You will hear a confirmation tone when it reads successfully.
  6. Connect to Wi-Fi. Select your 2.4GHz network and enter the password. The camera does not support 5GHz.
  7. Calibrate pan and tilt. The camera runs an initial motor calibration automatically. Test the pan/tilt controls in live view to confirm everything moves freely.

Key Features to Configure

  • Motion Tracking: Enable in camera settings to have the camera follow moving objects. Works well for people, but pets can trigger it frequently.
  • Waypoints and Patrol: Set up to four positions and the camera cycles between them -- great for covering a large backyard or open floor plan.
  • Detection Zone: Draw a box around the area you want monitored. Cuts down on alerts from trees or traffic.
  • Local Storage: Insert a microSD card (up to 256GB) for continuous or event-based recording independent of Wyze cloud.

Platform Integration

  • Alexa: Enable the Wyze skill, then say "Alexa, show me [camera name]" on Echo Show or Fire TV.
  • Google Home: Link your Wyze account to view the feed on Nest Hub displays and Chromecast devices.
  • Home Assistant: Use the Wyze HACS integration or enable RTSP firmware for a standard video stream compatible with any NVR.

Troubleshooting

  • Pan/tilt stuck or grinding: Power cycle and let it recalibrate. Check for physical obstructions blocking rotation.
  • Motion tracking not working: It is off by default -- enable it in camera settings. Also check that detection sensitivity is not too low.
  • Wi-Fi connection fails: Confirm you are on 2.4GHz. Many routers broadcast a combined network; try temporarily disabling 5GHz during setup.
  • QR code not scanning: Turn phone brightness to maximum and hold it steady about 6 inches from the lens with no glare on the screen.
  • Choppy video: Move the camera closer to your router or add a Wi-Fi extender. At least 2 Mbps upload speed is recommended.
  • Factory reset: Hold the setup button for 10 seconds until you hear "Ready to connect."
