What You'll Need

  • Alfred DB2-B Smart Lock
  • Standard door prep (2-1/8" bore hole)
  • 4 AA batteries (included)
  • Smartphone with Alfred Home app

  • Screwdriver

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Remove old lock: Unscrew and remove existing deadbolt from both sides of the door.
  2. Install exterior escutcheon: Position the exterior assembly and insert the cable through the door bore.
  3. Attach interior mounting plate: Secure the plate using the included bolts from the exterior side.
  4. Connect interior assembly: Plug the cable into the interior unit. Attach to the mounting plate.
  5. Insert batteries: Open the battery compartment on the interior unit and insert 4 AA batteries.
  6. Download Alfred Home app: Install and create an Alfred account.
  7. Add the lock: Tap "+" and select "DB2-B." Enable Bluetooth and follow the pairing instructions.
  8. Set master PIN: Create your primary access code during setup.
  9. Test the lock: Try the PIN code and test the interior thumb turn.
  10. Set up Wi-Fi Bridge (optional): For remote access, plug in the Alfred Wi-Fi Bridge and pair it with your lock through the app.

Troubleshooting

  • Keypad not illuminating: Press any key to wake the keypad. Check battery level. Replace batteries if low.
  • Bluetooth won't connect: Ensure you're within 5 feet of lock. Enable Bluetooth on phone. Try removing and re-pairing the lock.
  • Lock jams: Check door alignment. Ensure strike plate hole is large enough. Lubricate the bolt with graphite.
  • Z-Wave not pairing: Put your Z-Wave hub in inclusion mode. Press the lock's network button. Try exclusion first if previously paired.
  • Auto-lock not working: Enable auto-lock in app settings. Ensure the door is properly closed (sensor-based models).
