What's in the Box

Your Blink Video Doorbell package includes the doorbell camera unit, a mounting bracket, a wedge mount for angled installations, a wiring harness, screws and wall anchors, a semi-transparent protective cover, and a quick-start guide. The Blink Video Doorbell can operate on two AA lithium batteries (included) or be wired to your existing 16–24V AC doorbell wiring for continuous power.

Prerequisites

Download the Blink app and create or sign into your Blink account. You will need a Blink Sync Module 2 (sold separately or in a bundle) and a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. If you plan to wire the doorbell, turn off the breaker for your existing doorbell transformer before beginning. Have a Phillips-head screwdriver and a drill available for mounting. If your existing doorbell is digital (rather than mechanical), you may need to add a compatibility resistor to the wiring — check the Blink app's compatibility guide for your specific chime model.

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. If you are using wired power, turn off the breaker and remove your existing doorbell. Disconnect the two low-voltage wires from the old unit.
  2. Attach the Blink mounting bracket to the wall at the desired height (approximately four feet from the ground for the best angle). Use the included screws and wall anchors for brick or stucco surfaces.
  3. If wiring, connect the two doorbell wires to the terminals on the back of the mounting bracket using the wiring harness. Polarity does not matter for AC doorbell wiring.
  4. For battery operation, open the back cover and insert the two AA lithium batteries.
  5. Slide the Blink Video Doorbell onto the mounting bracket from the top. It clicks into place and is secured by a small screw at the bottom to prevent theft.
  6. If using the wedge mount for an angled view, attach the wedge to the wall first, then mount the bracket onto it.
  7. Restore power at the breaker if using wired installation.

App Pairing and Configuration

Open the Blink app, tap the "+" icon, and select "Blink Video Doorbell." Scan the QR code on the camera and follow the prompts to pair it with your Sync Module 2. Once connected, configure motion detection zones to avoid false alerts from passing cars or foot traffic on the sidewalk. Set the motion sensitivity to medium initially and adjust based on your experience. Enable "Activity Zones" to focus detection on your porch and walkway areas only.

Smart Home Integration Tips

The Blink Video Doorbell works with Amazon Alexa for doorbell press announcements, live viewing on Echo Show devices, and two-way audio through Alexa. Set up an Alexa routine so that when someone presses the doorbell, all your Echo devices announce "Someone is at the front door" and your Echo Show automatically displays the live camera feed. The doorbell does not natively support Google Home or Apple HomeKit.

Quick Troubleshooting

If the doorbell does not power on with wired installation, verify the transformer is 16–24V AC with a multimeter. If the doorbell shows as offline in the app, check that the Sync Module 2 is online and within range. For battery-powered setups, cold weather below 32 degrees Fahrenheit can reduce battery performance — consider switching to wired power if your doorbell is in a cold climate. If motion alerts are not triggering, increase the sensitivity in the Blink app or expand the activity zones.
