What You'll Need

  • Bosma Aegis Smart Lock
  • Existing deadbolt (Aegis installs on inside only)

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Check compatibility: The Aegis attaches to your existing deadbolt thumb turn. Measure your current thumb turn and door thickness to ensure compatibility.
  2. Download Bosma app: Install and create your Bosma account.
  3. Prepare mounting surface: Clean the interior door surface around your existing deadbolt with the included alcohol wipe.
  4. Attach the adapter: Select the appropriate thumb turn adapter that fits your existing deadbolt. Attach it to the Aegis.
  5. Mount the Aegis: Position the device over your thumb turn. Use the strong adhesive tape or optional screws to secure it.
  6. Insert batteries: Open the cover and insert 4 AA batteries.
  7. Power on: The device will initialize. The LED will indicate it's ready for setup.
  8. Add to app: Tap "+" in the Bosma app and select "Aegis." Follow Bluetooth pairing instructions.
  9. Connect to Wi-Fi: Enter your 2.4GHz network credentials for remote access.
  10. Calibrate the lock: Follow the in-app calibration to teach the Aegis your lock's rotation range.

Troubleshooting

  • Motor struggling: Recalibrate the lock travel in the app. Ensure the thumb turn moves freely by hand. Check adapter fit.
  • Adhesive not holding: Use the screw mounting option for heavier doors. Ensure surface was cleaned before applying adhesive.
  • Fingerprint not recognized: Clean the sensor. Delete and re-register fingerprints. Register the same finger multiple times at different angles.
  • Wi-Fi disconnects: Check signal strength at door location. Only 2.4GHz is supported. Reset Wi-Fi connection in app.
  • Lock stuck mid-rotation: Manually assist the thumb turn to complete. Recalibrate. Check for obstructions or misalignment.
