What's in the Box

Your Dyson Purifier Cool Formaldehyde TP09 package includes the purifier tower unit, the loop amplifier (upper section), a combination HEPA+Carbon filter (pre-installed or packaged separately), a remote control with a magnetized storage spot on the machine, and a quick-start guide. The TP09 features Dyson's selective catalytic oxidation filter specifically designed to continuously destroy formaldehyde at a molecular level, in addition to capturing particles and gases.

Prerequisites

Before setting up your Dyson TP09, ensure you have the following ready:

  • A power outlet near your desired location — the TP09 has a standard power cord and does not use batteries
  • Enough floor space for the purifier to stand upright with at least 12 inches of clearance around it for proper airflow
  • A stable Wi-Fi network on the 2.4 GHz band (the TP09 does not support 5 GHz)
  • The Dyson Link app (also called MyDyson) installed on your iOS or Android device
  • A Dyson account created in the app

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Assemble the purifier: If the loop amplifier (top section) is separate, align it with the base unit and press down firmly until it clicks into place. The two sections connect magnetically and mechanically for a secure fit.
  2. Install the filters: Open the outer covers on both sides of the base unit by pressing the release buttons. If the HEPA+Carbon filter is not pre-installed, slide it into the cavity following the directional arrows marked on the filter. The catalytic formaldehyde filter is permanently built into the unit and does not need installation. Replace the outer covers until they click shut.
  3. Position the purifier: Place the TP09 on a flat, stable surface. For best purification performance, position it centrally in the room rather than in a corner. Keep it away from walls and large furniture that could obstruct airflow intake at the base.
  4. Connect to power: Plug the power cord into the base of the purifier and into a wall outlet. Press the power button on the machine or on the included remote control. The LED display on the front of the base will illuminate.
  5. Connect to the Dyson app: Open the MyDyson app on your phone, sign in, and tap "Add a machine." Select the TP09 Purifier Cool Formaldehyde from the product list. The app will display a pairing code — enter this on the purifier's display or follow the on-screen instructions to pair via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
  6. Join your Wi-Fi network: During the app pairing process, you will be asked to connect the purifier to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Select your network and enter the password. Once connected, the purifier's display will show a Wi-Fi icon.
  7. Run initial calibration: The TP09's built-in sensors need a short calibration period. Allow the purifier to run for about 30 minutes after first setup so the air quality sensors can establish baseline readings for your environment.

Smart Home Integration Tips

The Dyson TP09 works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Siri Shortcuts. Link your Dyson account in the Alexa or Google Home app to control the purifier by voice — commands like "Turn on the purifier" or "Set the fan to speed 5" work natively. In the MyDyson app, you can set automatic schedules, enable Auto mode (which adjusts fan speed based on detected air quality), and view real-time and historical air quality data including PM2.5, PM10, VOCs, NO2, and formaldehyde levels.

Quick Troubleshooting

If the purifier does not appear in the MyDyson app during setup, make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and that you are standing within a few feet of the machine. If the Wi-Fi connection fails, verify you are using a 2.4 GHz network. A blinking Wi-Fi icon on the display indicates the purifier is attempting to connect. If air quality readings seem inaccurate immediately after setup, allow the 30-minute calibration period to complete. The remote control is magnetized and stores on top of the machine — if the remote is unresponsive, replace the CR2032 coin cell battery inside.
