What's in the Box
Your eufy Security Smart Lock Touch package includes the smart lock unit with built-in fingerprint scanner, an interior assembly with keypad, mounting hardware, strike plates, a door jig template, AA batteries, an emergency USB-C power cable, physical keys for backup access, and a quick-start guide. The Smart Lock Touch uses Bluetooth for communication and features a capacitive fingerprint reader on the exterior for fast keyless entry.
Prerequisites
The eufy Security Smart Lock Touch is a full deadbolt replacement, not a retrofit attachment. You will need to remove your existing deadbolt entirely and install the eufy lock in its place. Verify your door is compatible: standard door thickness between 1-3/8 inches and 1-3/4 inches, with a standard 2-1/8 inch bore hole and either a 2-3/8 inch or 2-3/4 inch backset. Download the eufy Security app and have a Phillips-head screwdriver ready. You will not need a HomeBase hub — this lock connects directly to your phone via Bluetooth.
Step-by-Step Installation
- Remove your existing deadbolt completely — both the interior and exterior assemblies, including the strike plate and bolt mechanism.
- Use the included door jig template to verify your door's bore hole and edge hole alignment. If your existing holes match the template, proceed directly. If not, you may need to modify the bore hole using a hole saw.
- Install the new latch bolt mechanism into the edge of the door, ensuring the tapered side of the bolt faces the direction the door closes.
- Install the new strike plate on the door frame, aligned with the latch bolt.
- Thread the exterior assembly (with the fingerprint reader) through the bore hole from outside. Feed the cable connector through to the interior side of the door.
- Attach the interior assembly by connecting the cable from the exterior unit, aligning the mounting posts, and securing with the included screws. Tighten evenly to ensure a flush fit.
- Insert the AA batteries into the interior battery compartment.
- Test the lock manually by turning the interior thumbturn to verify smooth bolt operation before proceeding to app setup.
App Pairing and Configuration
Open the eufy Security app, tap "+" and select "Smart Lock Touch." The app will discover the lock via Bluetooth — stand within three feet during pairing. Follow the prompts to register your fingerprints. You can store up to 50 fingerprints across multiple users. The scanner learns your fingerprint over time, improving recognition accuracy with each use. Set up PIN codes as backup access methods and add the physical keys to a safe location in case of battery failure.
Smart Home Integration Tips
The eufy Security Smart Lock Touch connects via Bluetooth, which means remote access requires a eufy HomeBase or a Wi-Fi bridge for cloud connectivity. Without these, you can only control the lock when within Bluetooth range (approximately 30 feet). The lock supports Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice-controlled locking, but voice unlock is disabled by default for security reasons. If you own a eufy HomeBase, adding the lock to it enables remote lock status monitoring and integration with other eufy devices.
Quick Troubleshooting
If the fingerprint scanner does not recognize your print, re-register the same finger multiple times at slightly different angles to improve the scan profile. If the lock does not respond at all, connect the emergency USB-C cable to temporarily power it and replace the batteries immediately. If Bluetooth pairing fails, move closer to the lock and ensure no other phone is currently connected to it, as the lock supports only one active Bluetooth connection at a time.
