What's in the Box
Your Govee Outdoor Flood Lights RGBIC (2-Pack) package includes two RGBIC flood light units, ground stakes, mounting brackets for wall or surface installation, a control box, a power adapter, and a quick start guide. Each flood light features RGBIC technology that can display multiple colors simultaneously across the light beam, and the two lights connect to a single control box for synchronized or independent control through the Govee Home app.
Prerequisites
- A smartphone with the Govee Home app installed (available on iOS and Android)
- A stable 2.4GHz WiFi network that reaches the outdoor installation area
- A Govee Home account created and verified
- A GFCI-protected outdoor power outlet within reach of the power adapter
- Ground stakes (included) for lawn installation, or screws and a drill for wall mounting
- A plan for where to aim each flood light (landscaping features, walls, trees, or architectural details)
Choosing Your Installation Location
Flood lights work best when aimed at a surface that reflects and diffuses the light, such as a house wall, fence, tree trunk, garden feature, or landscaping bed. Position the lights 3 to 6 feet away from the surface you want to illuminate for the best color spread. Placing them too close creates a concentrated hot spot, while too far away dilutes the effect. Consider what you want to highlight: uplighting a tree creates dramatic shadows, washing a wall brings out architectural texture, and illuminating garden beds adds nighttime curb appeal.
Step-by-Step Installation
- Decide whether to use the ground stakes for lawn placement or the wall-mounting brackets for permanent installation on a surface.
- For ground stake installation, push each stake firmly into the ground at your chosen location. The stake should be buried deep enough to stay stable in wind and rain. Angle the flood light head toward your target surface.
- For wall or surface mounting, attach the mounting brackets using screws and a drill at your chosen height. Mount the flood light heads onto the brackets and adjust the angle to aim at the desired area.
- Route the cables from each flood light back to the control box. Bury cables slightly under mulch or run them along edges to keep the installation tidy and prevent tripping hazards.
- Connect both flood lights to the control box using the provided connectors.
- Position the control box in a sheltered location and plug the power adapter into a GFCI-protected outdoor outlet.
App Pairing
- Power on the lights. Both flood lights will illuminate and the control box indicator will begin flashing.
- Open the Govee Home app and tap "+" to add a new device.
- Select the Outdoor Flood Lights RGBIC from the device list or scan the QR code.
- Enable Bluetooth and follow the pairing process, then connect to your 2.4GHz WiFi network.
- Name the device based on its location, such as "Front Yard Floods" or "Garden Spotlights."
Smart Home Integration Tips
The Govee Outdoor Flood Lights work with Alexa and Google Assistant. Voice commands like "Alexa, turn on the garden lights" provide instant control without reaching for your phone. The RGBIC technology means each flood light can display gradient effects and flowing color patterns across its beam. Use the Govee Home app to control both lights independently or synchronize them for a unified look. Set schedules to turn on at dusk and off at a set time, or create seasonal color themes for holidays throughout the year.
Quick Troubleshooting
If one flood light does not turn on, check its cable connection to the control box. Ensure the connector is fully seated and dry. If WiFi is unreliable outdoors, position a WiFi extender closer to the control box location. After heavy rain, inspect the connections and control box for any water intrusion. If colors appear washed out during the day, the effect will be much more visible after dark. For the most vibrant color display, reduce competing ambient light sources near the flood lights.
