What's in the Box

The Level Lock Touch Edition combines invisible smart lock technology with a touch-to-unlock feature. Inside the box, you'll find the Level Lock Touch Edition interior assembly, exterior lock housing with a touch-sensitive panel, mounting hardware and adapters, a CR2 battery, key cards for touch-free NFC access, and an installation guide. The Touch Edition's signature feature is its capacitive touch panel on the exterior — just touch it with a registered finger to unlock the door.

Prerequisites

Before you start the installation, confirm you have:

  • A standard deadbolt door cutout with a 2-1/8 inch bore hole
  • A Phillips head screwdriver
  • A smartphone with the Level Home app installed (iOS or Android)
  • Door thickness between 1-3/8 inches and 2 inches
  • A properly aligned door where the deadbolt slides smoothly into the strike plate

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Remove your existing deadbolt completely — unscrew the interior plate, pull out both sides, and remove the bolt mechanism from the door edge.
  2. Install the Level bolt assembly into the edge of the door. Ensure it slides in and out smoothly without catching. Attach the included strike plate to the door frame if needed.
  3. Insert the exterior housing with the touch panel through the bore hole from the outside. Align the tailpiece with the bolt assembly inside the door.
  4. Mount the interior assembly onto the posts from the inside. Make sure the tailpiece adapter fully engages the bolt mechanism. Secure with the mounting screws, tightening until snug but not forced.
  5. Install the CR2 battery in the interior assembly's battery compartment. The lock will perform an automatic calibration, cycling the bolt several times to learn its full range.
  6. Test the lock by turning the interior thumb turn manually. Verify the bolt extends and retracts fully and that the touch panel on the exterior sits flush against the door.

App Pairing and Touch Setup

Download and open the Level Home app. Create an account or sign in, then tap Add a Device and select Level Lock Touch Edition. Hold your phone near the lock for Bluetooth pairing. Once connected, the app will walk you through calibrating the lock positions and setting up the touch-to-unlock feature. You'll register your fingerprint-like touch pattern directly through the app — up to five touch profiles can be stored. Each household member can register their own touch profile for convenient keyless entry.

Smart Home Integration Tips

  • The Level Lock Touch Edition is compatible with Apple HomeKit out of the box. Add it to the Apple Home app for Siri commands like "Hey Siri, lock the front door" and create automations such as locking the door automatically when everyone leaves.
  • Use the included NFC key cards as backup access. Tap a card against the exterior panel to unlock — these are ideal for kids, dog walkers, or housekeepers.
  • Enable auto-lock in the Level Home app so the door automatically locks after a customizable period (30 seconds to 30 minutes).
  • For Alexa or Google Assistant integration, the optional Level Connect bridge adds Wi-Fi connectivity to the lock, enabling voice control and remote access through those platforms.

Quick Troubleshooting

If the touch-to-unlock feature doesn't respond, make sure touch profiles have been registered in the Level Home app. Clean the exterior touch panel — dirt, moisture, or thick gloves can interfere with capacitive sensing. If the lock won't pair with your phone, toggle Bluetooth off and on and keep your phone within a few feet of the lock. If the bolt is stiff, check door alignment and ensure the strike plate allows the bolt to fully extend without resistance. Replace the CR2 battery annually or when the Level Home app alerts you that the battery is low.
