What's in the Box
The Logitech Circle View Doorbell is a HomeKit Secure Video-enabled doorbell camera that integrates exclusively with the Apple Home ecosystem. Inside the box, you'll find the Circle View Doorbell, a mounting bracket and angle wedge, a chime connector cable, wire nuts, a faceplate, mounting screws, and a detailed installation guide. The doorbell features a tall, head-to-toe camera view with a 160-degree field of view, color night vision, and two-way audio with noise cancellation.
Prerequisites
Before installing the Circle View Doorbell, ensure you have:
- Existing doorbell wiring with a 16-24V AC transformer (the Circle View Doorbell requires hardwired power and does not have a battery)
- An iPhone or iPad with the Apple Home app (this doorbell is HomeKit-only)
- A HomeKit home hub — Apple TV (4th generation or later), HomePod, or HomePod mini — for remote access, notifications, and video recording
- An iCloud+ subscription for HomeKit Secure Video cloud recording
- Basic electrical tools: a screwdriver, wire stripper, and voltage tester
- A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network with good signal strength at your front door
Step-by-Step Installation
- Turn off power: Switch off the circuit breaker that supplies power to your existing doorbell. Use a voltage tester on the doorbell wires to confirm there is no live current before proceeding.
- Remove your existing doorbell by unscrewing it from the wall and disconnecting the two wires. Note how the wires were connected — they are low-voltage AC, so polarity doesn't matter.
- If your home has a mechanical or digital doorbell chime, connect the included chime connector cable across the chime's terminals. This adapter ensures compatibility with the Circle View Doorbell's power requirements.
- Attach the mounting bracket to the wall using the included screws. If you need to angle the camera, use the angle wedge between the bracket and the wall. Thread the doorbell wires through the bracket.
- Connect the doorbell wires to the terminals on the back of the Circle View Doorbell. Secure them with the included wire nuts or screws. Mount the doorbell onto the bracket — it should click into place.
- Turn the circuit breaker back on. The doorbell LED will flash as it powers up and enters setup mode.
- Open the Home app on your iPhone. Tap +, then Add Accessory, and scan the HomeKit code on the doorbell or its packaging. Follow the prompts to connect the doorbell to your Wi-Fi network, assign it to a room, and configure notification and recording preferences.
Smart Home Integration Tips
- With HomeKit Secure Video, the doorbell can identify people, animals, vehicles, and packages. Set up activity zones in the Home app to limit motion notifications to your walkway or porch area and ignore the street.
- When someone rings the doorbell, all your Apple devices and HomePods will show a notification with a live camera feed. You can answer with two-way audio directly from your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch.
- Create automations such as turning on porch lights when the doorbell detects motion after sunset, or unlocking a HomeKit-compatible smart lock when a recognized face is detected.
- The doorbell's tall camera angle captures visitors from head to toe, including packages left on the ground — position the doorbell at standard height (about 48 inches from the ground) for the best view.
Quick Troubleshooting
If the doorbell doesn't power on, verify the circuit breaker is on and test the wires for voltage. The transformer must provide 16-24V AC — older homes with 10V transformers may need a transformer upgrade. If the doorbell won't connect to Wi-Fi, confirm you're using a 2.4 GHz network. Check that your home hub is online and on the same network. For "No Response" status in the Home app, restart the home hub and check your Wi-Fi signal at the door location. To factory reset the doorbell, press and hold the button on the bottom for 10 seconds while the doorbell is powered.
