  • Ring app (iOS or Android) with an active account
  • Existing outdoor electrical junction box with 120V wiring
  • A 2.4 GHz WiFi network
  • Wire nuts (included)
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Drill
  • Wire stripper (if needed)
  • Ladder (for elevated installations)
  • Non-contact voltage tester (recommended)

Important Safety Warning

This installation requires working with 120V household wiring. Turn off the power at the circuit breaker and confirm the wires are de-energized with a voltage tester before handling any wiring. If you are not experienced with electrical work, hire a licensed electrician.

Step 1: Turn Off Power and Remove the Existing Fixture

  1. Switch off the circuit breaker controlling the outdoor light you are replacing.
  2. Verify the power is off using a non-contact voltage tester.
  3. Remove the old light fixture and disconnect the wires by removing the wire nuts.
  4. Identify the black (hot), white (neutral), and green or bare copper (ground) wires coming from the junction box.

Step 2: Mount the Floodlight Cam

  1. Secure the included mounting bracket to the junction box using the provided screws. Make sure the bracket is level.
  2. Connect the wires: match black to black, white to white, and green to green or bare copper. Twist each pair together and secure with the included wire nuts.
  3. Carefully push the connected wires into the junction box.
  4. Attach the Floodlight Cam body to the mounting bracket and tighten the securing screws.

Step 3: Restore Power and Set Up in the Ring App

  1. Turn the circuit breaker back on. The floodlights will illuminate briefly and the camera's status light will begin flashing.
  2. Open the Ring app and tap Set Up a Device.
  3. Select Cameras, then choose Floodlight Cam Wired Plus.
  4. Scan the QR code on the camera or Quick Start Guide.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the camera to your 2.4 GHz WiFi network.
  6. Name the camera and assign it to a location.

Step 4: Adjust the Camera and Floodlights

  1. Angle the two floodlight arms to illuminate the desired area. Each arm pivots independently so you can direct light precisely where you need it.
  2. Adjust the camera position using the ball joint to point at the area you want to monitor most closely.
  3. In the Ring app, set up Motion Zones to define which areas trigger recording and notifications.
  4. Adjust Motion Sensitivity to reduce false alerts from moving tree branches, passing cars, or animals.

Step 5: Configure Light and Alert Settings

  • Light Schedules — Set the floodlights to turn on at dusk and off at a specific time, or let them activate only on motion.
  • Light Brightness — Adjust brightness levels to suit your property and reduce light pollution.
  • Linked Devices — Link the Floodlight Cam with other Ring devices. For example, when your doorbell detects motion, the floodlight can turn on automatically.
  • Siren — The built-in 110 dB siren can be triggered manually from the app or set to activate during alarm events if you have a Ring Alarm system.

Tips for Best Performance

  • Mount the camera at nine feet or higher for the best coverage angle and to deter tampering.
