What You'll Need

  • Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2
  • Existing doorbell wiring (16-24V AC transformer)
  • Pro Power Kit (included)
  • Smartphone with Ring app
  • Screwdriver and drill

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Turn Off Power: Switch off the circuit breaker for your doorbell. Test by pressing existing doorbell.
  2. Check Compatibility: Verify your transformer is 16-24V AC and your chime is compatible.
  3. Install Pro Power Kit: Open your indoor chime box. Connect Pro Power Kit wires to Front and Trans terminals.
  4. Download Ring App: Install the app and tap "Set Up a Device." Follow the in-app instructions.
  5. Remove Old Doorbell: Disconnect wires from your existing doorbell and remove it.
  6. Mount Ring Doorbell: Drill pilot holes using the mounting plate as a template. Insert wall anchors.
  7. Connect Wires: Attach both doorbell wires to the terminal screws on the back (one wire per screw).
  8. Secure Doorbell: Mount to wall, attach faceplate, and insert security screw.
  9. Restore Power: Turn the circuit breaker back on. Complete setup in the Ring app.

Troubleshooting

  • Important: Don't press doorbell until you've configured In-home Chime Settings in the app.
  • Short wires: Use included wire extenders with wire nuts if wires don't reach.
  • Doorbell not powering on: Verify circuit breaker is on. Check transformer voltage (16-24V AC required).
  • Chime not working: Ensure Pro Power Kit is correctly installed on Front and Trans terminals.
  • Use correct screws: Wrong screws can damage the device or create a fire hazard.
