Installing Your Shelly Dimmer 2

What You'll Need

  • Shelly Dimmer 2
  • Screwdriver
  • Wire strippers
  • Voltage tester
  • Smartphone with Shelly app
  • 2.4GHz WiFi network
  • No neutral wire required!

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Turn off power: Switch off circuit breaker.
  2. Remove existing switch: Access wiring behind switch.
  3. Wire the Shelly Dimmer 2: Connect L (Live), O (Output to light), and optionally SW1/SW2 for switches. Neutral optional but recommended.
  4. Position in wall box: Fit behind existing switch plate.
  5. Reinstall switch (optional): Connect original switch to SW terminals for manual control.
  6. Restore power: Turn breaker back on.
  7. Open Shelly app: Add device via Bluetooth or WiFi AP.
  8. Connect to WiFi: Enter network credentials.
  9. Calibrate: Run the dimmer calibration for your specific bulb type.

Troubleshooting

  • Flickering: Run calibration in app. Adjust minimum brightness level.
  • Overheating warning: Check load doesn't exceed limits. Improve ventilation.
  • Minimum brightness too high: Some LEDs don't dim below a certain level. Try different bulbs.
  • Buzzing: Try leading edge mode if available, or use different bulbs.
