What You'll Need
- Tuya Zigbee Smart Dimmer Switch
- Tuya Zigbee Hub (or compatible Zigbee gateway)
- Neutral wire (usually required)
- Dimmable light bulbs
- Smartphone with Tuya Smart or Smart Life app
- Screwdriver and wire strippers
- Voltage tester
Step-by-Step Setup
- Ensure Zigbee hub is set up: Your Tuya Zigbee hub must be online and connected to the app first.
- Turn off power: Switch off the circuit breaker for the light circuit.
- Remove old switch: Unscrew and disconnect the existing dimmer or switch.
- Connect the Zigbee dimmer:
- L → Line (hot)
- L1 → Load (to dimmable lights)
- N → Neutral
- Ground → Ground wire
- Mount the switch: Install in electrical box and attach faceplate.
- Restore power: Turn the circuit breaker on. The dimmer will power up.
- Put hub in pairing mode: In the Tuya app, go to your hub and tap "Add subdevice."
- Pair the dimmer: Press and hold the dimmer button until the indicator blinks. It should appear in the app.
- Configure settings: Set minimum brightness level, transition speed, and power-on behavior.

Troubleshooting
- Won't pair with hub: Ensure hub is in pairing mode. Move dimmer closer to hub during initial pairing. Factory reset by holding button for 10 seconds.
- Lights flicker: Ensure bulbs are dimmable. Adjust minimum brightness setting. Try different brand of dimmable LEDs.
- Doesn't dim smoothly: Trailing-edge vs leading-edge compatibility varies by bulb. Adjust dimming range in settings.
- Loses connection: Zigbee uses mesh networking—add more Zigbee devices to strengthen the network. Check hub connection.
- Buzzing sound: Some LED bulbs buzz when dimmed. Try different bulbs. Check for loose wire connections.
