What You'll Need
- Wemo WiFi Smart Dimmer Switch
- Neutral wire (required)
- Dimmable light bulbs
- Single-pole circuit (or multi-way with Wemo 3-way kit)
- Smartphone with Wemo app
- 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network
- Screwdriver and wire strippers
Step-by-Step Setup
- Verify bulb compatibility: Ensure your bulbs are dimmable (LED, CFL, incandescent). Non-dimmable bulbs will flicker or not work.
- Turn off power: Switch off the circuit breaker. Use a voltage tester to confirm power is off.
- Remove old switch: Unscrew faceplate and switch. Document existing wire connections.
- Connect Wemo Dimmer:
- Black wire → Line (hot from panel)
- Red wire → Load (to light fixture)
- White wire → Neutral (white bundle)
- Green wire → Ground
- Secure all connections: Use wire nuts and ensure each connection is tight.
- Mount the dimmer: Install into the electrical box and attach the faceplate.
- Restore power: Turn on the circuit breaker. The dimmer LED will start blinking.
- Download Wemo app: Install and tap "+" to add a new device.
- Complete setup: Follow prompts to connect to Wi-Fi and name the dimmer.
- Calibrate (optional): Set minimum brightness level to prevent LED flickering at low levels.

Troubleshooting
- Lights flickering: Ensure bulbs are dimmable. Calibrate minimum brightness in app. Try different dimmable bulbs if flickering persists.
- Dimmer not responding: Check Wi-Fi connection. Power cycle the dimmer at the breaker. Update firmware via app.
- Buzzing sound: Common with some LED bulbs. Try different brand of dimmable LEDs. Check for loose wire connections.
- Touch control not working: Clean the faceplate with a dry cloth. Ensure dimmer has proper ground connection.
- Won't dim below certain level: Adjust minimum brightness calibration in app settings. Some LED bulbs won't dim below 10-20%.
