What's in the Box
Your GE Profile UltraFast Combo Washer Dryer arrives as a single all-in-one unit that handles both washing and drying in the same drum. The package includes the combo unit, drain hose, fill hoses (hot and cold), power cord, stacking hardware if applicable, and installation instructions. Smart features are built in and connect through the SmartHQ app, giving you remote monitoring, cycle notifications, and diagnostic capabilities.
Before You Begin
- Download the SmartHQ app from the App Store or Google Play
- Create or sign into your SmartHQ account
- Confirm your home has a 2.4GHz WiFi network — the unit does not connect over 5GHz
- Verify you have hot and cold water supply connections with shutoff valves
- Ensure a proper drain connection is available — either a standpipe, laundry sink, or floor drain
- Confirm the electrical supply matches the unit's requirements (typically a 240V outlet for the dryer function)
- Leave adequate clearance around the unit for ventilation and service access
Physical Installation
- Position the unit. Place the combo washer dryer in its designated space. Use the adjustable leveling legs to ensure the unit is perfectly level — an unbalanced machine will vibrate excessively during spin cycles. Check level from front to back and side to side.
- Connect water supply hoses. Attach the hot water fill hose to the hot water valve and the cold water fill hose to the cold water valve. Hand-tighten the connections, then give an additional quarter turn with pliers. Turn on both water valves and check for leaks at each connection.
- Attach the drain hose. Secure the drain hose to the standpipe, laundry sink, or drain connection. Make sure the hose is positioned at the correct height as specified in the installation guide to prevent siphoning issues.
- Connect power. Plug the unit into the appropriate electrical outlet. The GE Profile Combo Washer Dryer typically requires a 240V connection for full drying capability. Do not use an extension cord or adapter.
- Run a test cycle. Before loading laundry, run a quick wash cycle to check for water leaks at the fill hoses, drain hose, and internal connections. This also flushes any residue from manufacturing.
WiFi and SmartHQ Setup
- Activate WiFi on the unit. On the control panel, locate the WiFi or Connected Home button. Press and hold it until the WiFi indicator starts blinking, which puts the unit into pairing mode.
- Open the SmartHQ app. Tap Add Appliance and select your GE Profile combo washer dryer. Scan the connected appliance QR code located on the unit's door frame or data plate.
- Enter your WiFi credentials. Select your 2.4GHz network and provide the password. The unit will connect within about a minute.
- Verify the connection. The WiFi indicator will stop blinking and stay solid. The SmartHQ app will show the appliance as connected and display its current status.
Smart Home Integration
Link your SmartHQ account to Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for voice control and status checks. Ask your voice assistant how much time is left on a cycle or receive push notifications when the wash-dry cycle finishes. The SmartHQ app also offers cycle customization, allowing you to download specialty cycles and adjust settings remotely before starting a load. Built-in diagnostics can identify issues and provide troubleshooting steps directly through the app.
Quick Troubleshooting
If the unit doesn't connect to WiFi, confirm the WiFi indicator is flashing and retry the SmartHQ setup process. If the machine vibrates heavily during spin, re-level the unit and check that all shipping bolts have been removed from the rear panel. If clothes come out damp after a combo cycle, avoid overloading the drum — combo units typically dry smaller loads more effectively than traditional standalone dryers. Reducing load size by about a third compared to a standard washer's capacity usually resolves drying performance issues.
