The Airthings Wave Plus monitors radon, CO2, VOCs, humidity, temperature, and air pressure. It connects via Bluetooth to the Airthings app and can use a hub for WiFi connectivity. This guide covers connection and measurement issues.

Wave Plus Not Connecting to App

Symptoms

  • Device not found during setup
  • Bluetooth pairing fails
  • App shows device offline

Solutions

  1. Enable Bluetooth - Ensure phone Bluetooth is on and Airthings app has Bluetooth permission.
  2. Wave the sensor - Pass your hand over the front to wake the Wave Plus from sleep.
  3. Move closer - Bluetooth range is ~30 feet. Stand near the sensor during setup.
  4. Reset device - Remove batteries, wait 30 seconds, reinsert and try pairing again.
  5. Update app - Ensure you have the latest Airthings app version from your app store.

Radon Readings Not Appearing

Symptoms

  • Radon shows as "-" or zero
  • Readings fluctuate wildly
  • Values seem inaccurate

Solutions

  1. Wait for calibration - Radon sensor requires 7 days to provide reliable long-term readings.
  2. Check placement - Mount in lowest occupied floor, not in bathroom, kitchen, or near windows/doors.
  3. Stable location - Avoid moving the sensor after installation. Movement resets the radon baseline.
  4. Ventilation affects readings - High ventilation reduces radon. Closed spaces may show higher levels.

CO2 or VOC Readings Incorrect

Symptoms

  • CO2 always shows low values
  • VOC readings don't change
  • Sensors show stale data

Solutions

  1. Calibration period - CO2 and VOC sensors need 7 days for initial calibration.
  2. Sync data - Wave the sensor to sync data via Bluetooth to the app.
  3. Hub connection - For continuous data, connect to Airthings Hub (sold separately) for WiFi sync.
  4. Battery level - Low batteries can affect sensor accuracy. Replace 2x AA batteries.

Home Integration Issues

Symptoms

  • Not appearing in Alexa/Google Home
  • IFTTT triggers not working
  • Home Assistant not receiving data

Solutions

  1. Hub required - Cloud integrations require Airthings Hub for continuous data upload.
  2. Link accounts - Connect Airthings account in Alexa or Google Home app.
  3. Enable API - For Home Assistant, enable Airthings cloud API in the Airthings dashboard.
  4. Check subscription - Some features may require Airthings View Plus subscription.
