Doorbell Won't Connect

Setup issues:

  • Aqara Home app: Initial setup requires Aqara Home app
  • 2.4GHz WiFi: Only supports 2.4GHz networks
  • HomeKit code: Add to Apple Home using code in Aqara app
  • Hub not required: G4 connects directly to WiFi
  • Reset: Hold reset button until voice prompt

HomeKit Secure Video

HSV-specific issues:

  • iCloud storage: Requires 200GB+ iCloud plan for recording
  • Home hub: Apple TV or HomePod needed for HSV
  • Face recognition: Enable in Home app settings
  • Activity zones: Configure in Home app
  • Recording options: Stream vs stream & record settings

Chime Issues

Doorbell sound problems:

  • Indoor chime: Requires Aqara Chime (sold separately)
  • Chime pairing: Hold chime button during doorbell ring
  • HomePod announcement: HomePod can announce doorbell
  • Volume: Adjust chime volume in Aqara app

Power Options

Battery and wired operation:

  • Battery powered: Uses replaceable batteries
  • Battery life: Several months depending on activity
  • Low battery: App notifies when battery low
  • No wired option: G4 is battery-only (no transformer)
