Blink cameras including the Mini 2 (indoor) and Outdoor Floodlight Camera offer affordable security with cloud storage. This guide addresses connection and recording issues.

Camera Not Connecting During Setup

Symptoms

  • Blue light blinks but won't connect
  • Scan QR code fails
  • Camera not found in app

Solutions

  1. Use 2.4GHz network - Blink cameras only support 2.4GHz WiFi, not 5GHz.
  2. Reset camera - Press reset button until LED blinks blue (Mini) or hold sync button (Outdoor).
  3. Sync Module - Outdoor/battery cameras require a Sync Module 2. Mini 2 can work without one.
  4. Check password - WiFi passwords are case-sensitive. Re-enter carefully during setup.
  5. Enable permissions - Allow Blink app access to camera, Bluetooth, and location during setup.

Camera Not Recording Motion

Symptoms

  • Motion events missing
  • No clips in app
  • System armed but not recording

Solutions

  1. Arm the system - In Blink app, ensure the system is Armed. Cameras only record when armed.
  2. Enable motion detection - In camera settings, verify motion detection is turned on.
  3. Adjust sensitivity - Increase motion sensitivity slider if motion isn't being detected.
  4. Check activity zones - If using zones, ensure they cover the area you want monitored.
  5. Subscription required - Cloud recording requires Blink Subscription. Local storage needs Sync Module 2 with USB drive.

Live View Not Loading

Symptoms

  • Live view times out
  • Black screen or buffering
  • Camera offline message

Solutions

  1. Check WiFi signal - In camera settings, view signal strength. Relocate if weak.
  2. Restart camera - Unplug Mini 2 for 10 seconds or remove/reinstall battery on outdoor cameras.
  3. Check internet speed - Live view requires at least 2 Mbps upload speed.
  4. Force close app - Close and reopen the Blink app, then try live view again.
  5. Reduce devices - If many cameras, live view may be slow. Limit concurrent streams.

Floodlight Camera Specific Issues

Symptoms

  • Floodlight not turning on
  • Light too sensitive/not sensitive enough
  • Wired power not working

Solutions

  1. Check wiring - Floodlight camera requires existing floodlight wiring. Verify power at the junction box.
  2. Adjust motion light - In settings, configure motion light sensitivity and duration.
  3. Enable LED - Ensure floodlight LED is enabled in camera settings.
  4. Check time settings - Motion light may be scheduled. Verify it's active during current time.

Alexa Integration Issues

Symptoms

  • Can't view camera on Echo Show
  • Alexa can't find Blink cameras
  • Motion announcements not working

Solutions

  1. Link accounts - Enable Blink SmartHome skill in Alexa app and sign in to your Blink account.
  2. Discover devices - Say "Alexa, discover my devices" after linking.
  3. Same Amazon account - Blink and Alexa must use the same Amazon account.
  4. Enable announcements - In Blink app, enable Alexa announcements for motion alerts.
