Panel Not Connecting to WiFi

Symptoms

  • Setup fails at network step
  • Panel shows offline after setup
  • Cannot complete initial configuration

Solutions

  1. Use 2.4GHz network - Brilliant panels only support 2.4GHz WiFi. Ensure you're selecting the correct network.
  2. Check signal strength - WiFi signal may be weak at switch location. Consider a mesh system or access point.
  3. Enter password correctly - Use the on-screen keyboard carefully. Special characters are case-sensitive.
  4. Factory reset - In Settings > General > Reset, perform a factory reset and try setup again.
  5. Disable isolation - Ensure AP isolation/client isolation is disabled on your router.

Built-in Switches Not Controlling Lights

Symptoms

  • Physical switches don't turn lights on/off
  • Slider controls unresponsive
  • Wrong lights respond to switch

Solutions

  1. Check wiring - Ensure the panel is properly wired to load wires. Line/load reversal will prevent switching.
  2. Configure switches - In the Brilliant app, go to Control > Switches and assign each slider to the correct light load.
  3. Check dimmer compatibility - Some LED bulbs aren't compatible with the dimmer. Try different bulbs or use on/off mode.
  4. Calibrate dimmers - In switch settings, run dimmer calibration to match your specific bulbs.

Smart Home Devices Not Appearing

Symptoms

  • Hue, Sonos, or other devices not discovered
  • Devices shown but can't be controlled
  • Integration stops working

Solutions

  1. Same network - Ensure Brilliant and smart devices are on the same network and subnet.
  2. Add integrations - In Brilliant app, go to Integrations and connect Philips Hue, Sonos, Ring, SmartThings, etc.
  3. Re-discover devices - Remove and re-add integrations to refresh device discovery.
  4. Check permissions - Some integrations require account linking. Complete OAuth authorization for each service.
  5. Update firmware - Ensure Brilliant panel has latest firmware for best compatibility.

Voice Assistant Issues

Symptoms

  • Alexa/Google doesn't respond
  • Commands not understood
  • Account linking failed

Solutions

  1. Set up voice assistant - In Settings > Voice, choose Alexa or Google and complete account linking.
  2. Check microphone - Ensure privacy shutter isn't covering the microphone. Toggle mic in quick settings.
  3. Use correct wake word - Say "Alexa" or "Hey Google" depending on configured assistant.
  4. Re-link account - Remove and re-add voice assistant connection if commands fail.

Touchscreen Not Responding

Symptoms

  • Taps not registering
  • Screen frozen
  • Ghost touches

Solutions

  1. Clean screen - Wipe with a soft, dry microfiber cloth to remove fingerprints and debris.
  2. Restart panel - In Settings > General, restart the device to clear software issues.
  3. Check for updates - Software updates often fix touch calibration issues.
  4. Avoid moisture - Ensure the panel isn't installed in a high-humidity area that could affect the screen.

Multi-Way Switch Setup Issues

Symptoms

  • 3-way switch not working with Brilliant
  • Auxiliary switch configuration fails

Solutions
