Cree Connected bulbs use Zigbee for reliable smart lighting. This guide covers pairing and responsiveness issues.

Bulb Not Pairing

  1. Reset bulb: Turn on/off 4 times (1 sec each)
  2. Bulb flashes when in pairing mode
  3. Put hub in pairing mode before reset
  4. Keep bulb close to hub during pairing
  5. Some hubs need bulb type selected first

Bulb Disconnecting from Network

  1. Cree bulbs act as Zigbee repeaters
  2. Power-cycling wall switch disrupts connection
  3. Keep power always on, use smart control
  4. Add more repeating devices for stability
  5. May need to rejoin network after outage

SmartThings Setup

  1. Add device via SmartThings app
  2. Select "Cree" or "Zigbee bulb" category
  3. Reset bulb and wait for discovery
  4. Bulb appears as dimmable light
  5. Group with other bulbs for room control

Home Assistant ZHA/Z2M

  1. Standard Zigbee bulb, should pair easily
  2. Enable permit join in ZHA
  3. Reset bulb while permit join active
  4. Creates light entity with brightness
  5. May lack color temp control (model dependent)

Dimming Issues

  1. Dimming range 1-100%
  2. Minimum level may vary by bulb generation
  3. Buzzing at low levels is normal for some bulbs
  4. Use transition time for smooth dimming
  5. Check scene/automation brightness settings

Bulb Not Turning On

  1. Verify wall switch is on
  2. Check bulb in fixture (screw in fully)
  3. Test in different socket to rule out fixture
  4. Bulb may need factory reset
  5. Replace if completely unresponsive
