GE Cync Matter devices work across multiple platforms. This guide covers Matter-specific connectivity issues.
Matter Pairing Failed
- Ensure device is in pairing mode (blinking)
- Scan Matter QR code from device label
- Use numeric setup code if QR fails
- Controller must support Matter (updated app)
- Factory reset: Power cycle 5 times quickly
Device Added But Not Responding
- Matter devices need border router for Thread
- Cync Matter uses WiFi, not Thread
- Check WiFi network is 2.4GHz compatible
- Remove and re-add device if stuck
- Update controller platform app
Slow Response Times
- Matter uses local control, not cloud
- Check WiFi network congestion
- Reduce number of Matter controllers
- Restart border router device
- Update device firmware via Cync app first
Multi-Admin Setup Issues
- Commission device to primary platform first
- Share to additional platforms via Multi-Admin
- Maximum 5 controller fabrics supported
- Use "Share" option in each platform app
- All platforms must support Matter 1.2+
Cync App vs Matter Control
- Some features only available in Cync app
- Firmware updates require Cync app
- Schedules can be set in either platform
- Color scenes may differ between apps
- Use Cync app for initial setup, then Matter
Home Assistant Matter Integration
- Requires HA 2023.9 or newer
- Add Matter integration first
- Commission device directly to HA
- Or share from existing controller via Multi-Admin
- Thread devices need border router for HA
