Identifying the Issue

When your eufy Security eufyCam 3C is not connecting to the HomeBase or not recording, you may encounter the camera showing as offline in the eufy Security app, live view failing to load, motion events not being captured in the timeline, or the camera not responding to commands. The eufyCam 3C communicates wirelessly with the HomeBase 3 (S380), which handles local storage and AI processing. Unlike the eufyCam 3, the 3C does not have a built-in solar panel, making battery management a more common factor in connectivity problems.

Common Causes

  • Battery depleted: Without a built-in solar panel, the eufyCam 3C relies entirely on its rechargeable battery. Heavy motion activity, cold weather, and frequent live view access all drain the battery faster than expected.
  • HomeBase 3 offline: If the HomeBase loses its Ethernet connection, power, or crashes due to a firmware issue, all cameras connected to it go offline at the same time.
  • Wireless range exceeded: The eufyCam 3C's wireless connection to the HomeBase degrades through thick exterior walls, floors, and at distances beyond 75 feet in most real-world installations.
  • Storage full or drive failure: If the HomeBase 3's internal storage and any installed hard drive are full, new events cannot be recorded. A failed hard drive will also prevent recordings even if the built-in storage has space, depending on your configuration.
  • Firmware mismatch: Running outdated firmware on either the camera or HomeBase can cause pairing failures, recording errors, or feature malfunctions.
  • Solar panel accessory issues: If you have attached a eufy solar panel accessory and it is not charging the camera, a loose connection or insufficient sunlight is the likely cause.

Step-by-Step Fixes

  1. Check battery level: Open the eufy Security app and view the eufyCam 3C's battery percentage. If it is below 10 percent, the camera may have already powered off. Remove it from its mount and charge it fully via USB-C — this takes approximately three hours.
  2. Verify HomeBase 3 status: Check the HomeBase LED. Solid blue means online. If it is off or blinking red, unplug the power and Ethernet for 15 seconds, then reconnect. Try a different Ethernet port or cable. Wait two minutes for the HomeBase to fully restart.
  3. Test connectivity at close range: Place the camera within 10 feet of the HomeBase and see if it comes online. If it connects at close range but not at the outdoor location, the mounting spot exceeds the wireless range. Move the HomeBase to a closer outlet or relocate the camera.
  4. Check storage: In the eufy Security app, navigate to HomeBase settings and review storage status. Delete old footage or enable auto-overwrite so the system continuously records by overwriting the oldest data. If you have an installed hard drive, verify it appears in the storage settings — a failed drive may need replacement.
  5. Inspect the solar panel accessory: If you have a eufy solar panel connected, verify the USB-C connection is fully seated. Clean the panel surface to remove dust or debris. Confirm the panel receives at least four hours of direct sunlight per day — partial shade or north-facing installations rarely generate enough power to keep the camera charged.
  6. Update all firmware: In the eufy Security app, check for HomeBase and camera firmware updates. Update the HomeBase first, then each camera. Position cameras near the HomeBase during updates to prevent interruptions.
  7. Re-pair the camera: Remove the eufyCam 3C from the app and re-add it by pressing the sync button and following setup prompts. This forces a fresh wireless connection.
  8. Factory reset as a last resort: Hold the sync button on the camera for 10 seconds to reset it. If the HomeBase also needs resetting, use the pin tool on its reset button. Reconfigure everything from scratch, keeping in mind that a HomeBase reset erases all stored recordings.

When to Contact Support

Contact eufy support if the camera will not pair with the HomeBase even when fully charged and placed directly next to it, if the HomeBase never shows a solid blue LED despite multiple reboots and cable swaps, or if the camera records but all clips are corrupted or zero-length. Provide serial numbers, firmware versions, and details about your HomeBase storage configuration.

Prevention Tips

Monitor battery levels weekly through the eufy Security app and charge the camera when it drops below 20 percent. To extend battery life, reduce motion sensitivity to avoid unnecessary triggers, decrease recording clip length, and minimize live view usage. Consider purchasing the eufy solar panel accessory to keep the battery topped up automatically. Keep firmware updated on all devices and maintain adequate HomeBase storage by using auto-overwrite or periodically deleting old footage.
