Identifying the Issue
The eufy Video Doorbell Dual has a unique dual-camera system — a main camera at eye level and a lower camera angled toward the ground for package detection. When the doorbell is not ringing or not recording, you might experience silent button presses with no chime or notification, the main camera or lower camera failing to stream, motion events not being captured, or the "Delivery Guard" package detection feature not working. Since this doorbell requires a HomeBase 2 or HomeBase S380, issues can originate from the doorbell, the HomeBase, or the connection between them.
Common Causes
- HomeBase offline: If the HomeBase loses its network connection, the doorbell cannot communicate, ring, or record. All features stop simultaneously.
- Low or depleted battery: The Doorbell Dual's battery powers both cameras and the wireless radio. As it drains, the lower camera may stop functioning first, followed by connectivity drops.
- Chime not paired or configured: The eufy Security app must have chime settings properly configured — either for a paired eufy wireless chime or for phone push notifications. Without this setup, pressing the doorbell button produces no alert.
- Lower camera obstructed: If the mounting bracket or wedge mount blocks the lower lens, the package detection camera will show a dark or partially blocked image.
- Delivery Guard disabled: The package detection feature must be explicitly enabled in the eufy Security app. It is not always on by default.
- Wiring voltage too low: For hardwired installations, a transformer below 16V AC or under 30VA rating may not provide enough power for the dual-camera system.
Step-by-Step Fixes
- Check the HomeBase: Verify the HomeBase LED is solid blue. If it is red or off, unplug the power and disconnect the Ethernet cable for 15 seconds. Reconnect both and wait two minutes for a full reboot. Confirm the Ethernet cable is securely connected to your router.
- Verify doorbell battery level: In the eufy Security app, check the doorbell's battery percentage. If it is below 20 percent, remove the battery pack from the doorbell and charge it via USB-C. A full charge takes about five hours. The doorbell stops functioning entirely once the battery is critically low.
- Fix chime and notification issues: In the eufy Security app, go to the doorbell's settings and tap "Indoor Chime." Ensure the eufy chime is paired and the volume is set appropriately. Check "Bell Settings" to confirm the doorbell button triggers both chime sound and push notification. On your phone, verify the eufy Security app has notification permissions enabled.
- Check the lower camera view: Open the eufy Security app and view the lower camera's live feed. If it is partially or fully blocked, adjust the mounting bracket height or remove the wedge mount to allow the lower lens a clear downward view. The lower camera should see the ground directly below the doorbell.
- Enable Delivery Guard: In the eufy Security app, go to the doorbell settings and look for "Delivery Guard" or "Package Detection." Enable it and configure the detection zone for the lower camera to cover your doorstep area.
- Check wired power: If your doorbell is hardwired and experiences intermittent reboots, use a multimeter to test your transformer output. Upgrade to a 24V AC transformer rated at 30VA or higher to reliably power both cameras.
- Re-sync the doorbell: Remove the doorbell from the eufy Security app and set it up again. Press the sync button on the doorbell to initiate pairing with the HomeBase. This clears any corrupted pairing data.
- Factory reset: Press and hold the sync button on the doorbell for 10 seconds until you hear the reset prompt. Then add it as a new device. Note that this erases all saved settings and facial recognition data.
When to Contact Support
Contact eufy support if the doorbell button does not register presses at all (no LED flash, no response) even with a full battery, if one camera works but the other consistently shows no image after factory reset, or if the HomeBase will not come online despite Ethernet and power verification. Have your device serial numbers and firmware versions available.
Prevention Tips
Charge the battery before it drops below 15 percent. For homes with heavy doorbell traffic, consider hardwiring the doorbell to eliminate battery management. Keep the HomeBase connected to a UPS or surge protector to prevent outages during brief power interruptions. Periodically check the lower camera's view in the app to ensure the mount has not shifted. Update the eufy Security app and device firmware regularly for the latest bug fixes and feature improvements.
