Identifying the Issue

When your eufy Security Video Doorbell S330 is not connecting or not recording, you may encounter the doorbell appearing offline in the eufy Security app, live video failing to load, doorbell presses not triggering chime or notifications, motion events missing from the timeline, or the BionicMind facial recognition not identifying known faces. The S330 requires a HomeBase S380 for operation, so problems can originate from the doorbell itself, the HomeBase, the wireless connection between them, or HomeBase storage issues.

Common Causes

  • HomeBase S380 offline: When the HomeBase loses its Ethernet or power connection, the doorbell and all other connected cameras go offline immediately.
  • Low doorbell battery: The S330's rechargeable battery powers both the main and lower cameras. Heavy traffic areas drain the battery faster, and the dual-camera system consumes more power than single-camera doorbells.
  • Weak wireless signal: The doorbell communicates wirelessly with the HomeBase. If the HomeBase is far from the front door or separated by thick walls, the signal may be too weak for reliable video streaming and recording.
  • HomeBase storage full: All recordings are stored locally on the HomeBase. If internal storage and any installed hard drive are full, new events are not saved.
  • Wiring voltage insufficient: For wired installations, a transformer under 16V AC or below 30VA cannot reliably power the S330's dual-camera system, causing intermittent reboots and missed recordings.

Step-by-Step Fixes

  1. Check HomeBase status: Verify the HomeBase S380 LED is solid blue. If it is off or red, unplug power and Ethernet for 15 seconds, then reconnect. Wait two minutes for a full reboot. Try a different Ethernet port or cable if the issue persists.
  2. Check battery level: View the doorbell battery percentage in the eufy Security app. If below 15 percent, remove the battery pack and charge it via USB-C for about five hours. For wired installations, test the transformer voltage with a multimeter — it should read 16–24V AC at a minimum of 30VA.
  3. Improve wireless signal: Move the HomeBase to an outlet closer to your front door. If that is not possible, add a Wi-Fi extender near the door to strengthen the network for the HomeBase's own connection, which in turn improves its ability to communicate with the doorbell.
  4. Free up storage: Check HomeBase storage in the eufy Security app. Delete old recordings, enable auto-overwrite, or install a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive in the HomeBase's expansion bay for additional capacity.
  5. Fix notification and chime issues: In the eufy Security app, verify that doorbell ring notifications are enabled. Check that your eufy wireless chime is paired and set to an audible volume. On your phone, confirm the eufy Security app has notification permissions.
  6. Re-sync the doorbell: Remove the S330 from the app and add it again by pressing the sync button on the doorbell. This establishes a fresh connection with the HomeBase.
  7. Reset BionicMind: If facial recognition is not working, go to the doorbell settings in the app, clear the face database, and re-register faces with clear, well-lit photos from multiple angles.

When to Contact Support

Contact eufy support if the doorbell does not power on at all with a fully charged battery, if it syncs with the HomeBase but consistently fails to record any events despite available storage, or if the dual-camera system shows video from one lens but not the other after a factory reset. Provide serial numbers, firmware versions, and your installation type (battery or wired).

Prevention Tips

If your doorstep gets heavy traffic, consider wiring the doorbell with a 24V/40VA transformer for continuous power. Monitor battery levels weekly in the eufy Security app. Install a hard drive in the HomeBase S380 for ample storage and enable auto-overwrite. Keep the HomeBase on a UPS to prevent disconnections during power flickers. Update firmware regularly for both the doorbell and HomeBase to receive the latest stability and AI improvements.
