Hunter's SIMPLEconnect WiFi ceiling fans include built-in smart functionality. This guide covers common issues with these fans.
Fan Won't Connect to WiFi
Initial setup problems:
- Power cycle: Turn fan off at wall switch for 30 seconds
- Reset: Use remote to reset WiFi: hold fan and light buttons together
- 2.4GHz only: SIMPLEconnect only works with 2.4GHz WiFi
- Hunter app: Use Hunter app (not SIMPLEconnect app) for newer models
- Proximity: Be near the fan during initial setup
Remote Control Issues
Handheld remote not working:
- Battery: Replace remote battery (usually CR2032)
- Frequency: Fan and remote must be set to same frequency (DIP switches)
- Re-pair: Follow instructions to re-pair remote with fan receiver
- Interference: Other RF devices can interfere - try changing frequency
- Wall control: Some fans have wall-mounted control as alternative
Speed or Light Not Working
Control issues after setup:
- Correct mode: Ensure fan is in correct control mode (remote vs smart)
- Light kit: If light doesn't work, check bulb and that light kit is connected
- Speed settings: Some fans have 3 speeds, others have more - check in app
- Direction: Reversing function may be on remote only, not in app
Voice Control Setup
Alexa and Google integration:
- Hunter skill: Enable Hunter Home skill in Alexa or link in Google Home
- Discovery: Run device discovery after linking account
- Naming: Give fan a simple name like "bedroom fan"
- Commands: "Turn on fan", "Set fan to 50%", "Turn off fan light"
Home Assistant Integration
For local control:
- Bond Bridge: Best option - Bond learns fan's RF commands for local control
- Hunter API: Some community integrations exist for Hunter cloud
- Fan entity: Should appear as fan with speed percentage control
- Automations: Create automations for temperature-based fan control
