LG ThinQ smart appliances include refrigerators, washers, dryers, and ranges. This guide covers common connectivity issues.

Appliance Won't Connect to WiFi

Initial setup issues:

  • LG ThinQ app: Use LG ThinQ app for setup
  • 2.4GHz only: Most LG appliances only support 2.4GHz
  • Smart Diagnosis: Run Smart Diagnosis if setup fails
  • WiFi button: Hold WiFi button on appliance until LED blinks
  • Firmware: Update firmware after connecting

App Shows Offline

When appliance loses connection:

  • WiFi signal: Check signal strength at appliance location
  • Router restart: Restart router and appliance
  • Re-register: Remove and re-add appliance in app
  • Static IP: Set DHCP reservation for appliance
  • Network changes: Reconnect if WiFi password changed

Smart Features Not Working

Feature-specific issues:

  • Notifications: Enable notifications in app settings
  • Remote start: Some features require WiFi connection active
  • ThinQ recipes: Download cooking presets when connected
  • Proactive service: Allow notifications for maintenance alerts

Smart Home Integration

Platform connections:

  • Alexa: "Alexa, ask LG to start the washer"
  • Google Home: Link ThinQ account
  • Home Assistant: LG ThinQ integration (SmartThinQ)
  • Status only: Many integrations are status/notification only
