Problem Description
Your Meross Smart Wi-Fi Plug Mini is not connecting to your WiFi network during setup, showing offline in the Meross app, or not responding to commands from Alexa, Google Home, or HomeKit.
Common Causes
- Smart plug requires 2.4GHz WiFi (5GHz not supported)
- Router security settings blocking connection
- Meross cloud service issues
- WiFi password entered incorrectly
- Too many devices on the network
- Firmware needs updating
Solutions
1. Verify 2.4GHz WiFi Network
- Meross plugs only work with 2.4GHz networks
- If your router broadcasts both bands with the same name, temporarily disable 5GHz
- Or create a separate 2.4GHz network with a different name
- Network password should not contain special characters like quotes or backslashes
2. Reset and Reconnect the Plug
- Press and hold the button on the plug for 5 seconds
- The LED will flash rapidly (setup mode)
- Open the Meross app and tap + to add device
- Select your plug model and follow the setup wizard
- Keep your phone close to the plug during setup
3. Check Router Settings
- Disable AP Isolation/Client Isolation if enabled
- Ensure MAC filtering is off or the plug MAC is whitelisted
- Check that DHCP has available IP addresses
- Try temporarily disabling firewall to test
4. Power Cycle Your Network
- Unplug your router and modem
- Wait 60 seconds
- Plug the modem back in first
- Wait for modem lights to stabilize, then plug in router
- Try connecting the plug again
5. Update the Meross App
- Update to the latest version from App Store or Google Play
- Sign out and sign back into your Meross account
- Check for plug firmware updates in device settings
6. Re-link Voice Assistants
If the plug works in Meross app but not with Alexa/Google:
- Open Alexa or Google Home app
- Go to linked services and unlink Meross
- Re-link Meross and sign in again
- Discover devices to refresh the connection
7. Factory Reset
- Press and hold the button for 10+ seconds
- LED will flash quickly then turn off briefly
- Release when LED starts flashing again
- Remove from Meross app and set up fresh
