Nanoleaf 4D uses a camera to sync LED strips with TV content. This guide covers common sync and color issues.

Camera Not Detecting TV

Camera setup issues:

  • Camera placement: Center camera below or above TV
  • Distance: Camera needs to see entire screen
  • Angle: Adjust camera angle to capture full display
  • Lighting: Works best in dimmer environments
  • Calibration: Run screen calibration in app

Colors Don't Match

Color accuracy issues:

  • Calibration: Run color calibration in Nanoleaf app
  • TV settings: Adjust TV color settings if too saturated
  • Zone mapping: Check zones are mapped correctly to strip sections
  • Brightness: Match LED brightness to content

Sync Delay or Lag

Latency issues:

  • Normal delay: Camera-based sync has inherent delay (~100ms)
  • WiFi: Ensure stable WiFi connection
  • Processing: Strong lighting changes sync better than subtle
  • HDMI sync box: Consider Nanoleaf HDMI Sync Box for lower latency

Lightstrip Placement

Installation tips:

  • Behind TV: Mount strips on back of TV
  • Spacing: Even spacing around edges
  • Corners: Handle corners carefully
  • Zone assignment: Assign strip zones to screen areas

Screen Mirroring

Using with different content:

  • Movies: Cinematic content works great
  • Games: Gaming has some delay
  • Music visuals: Complements music videos
  • Desktop: Can mirror computer screens too
