Smart pet feeders and cameras let you check on your animals and keep them fed on schedule, even when you are away. When the WiFi drops, the feeder jams, or the camera goes offline, here is how to fix the most common problems.
Device Not Connecting to WiFi
- Confirm your WiFi is 2.4GHz. Nearly all smart pet devices require 2.4GHz. Split your bands if using a combined SSID.
- Put the device in pairing mode by holding the button until an LED blinks rapidly or you hear a tone.
- Keep your phone close during pairing. The initial handshake is distance-sensitive.
- Grant the app location and local network permissions. Android needs location to discover WiFi devices.
- Restart the device and router, then retry.
Petcube Bites 2 Troubleshooting
- Camera showing black screen? Power cycle and check WiFi signal. The Petcube needs a stable connection for video streaming.
- Treats jamming: Only use treats under 1 inch, dry and not sticky. Moist or soft treats jam the mechanism immediately.
- Treats dispensing unexpectedly: Check for scheduled dispenses or other family members with app access.
- Clean the dispenser regularly. Small crumbs break off and gum up the works over time.
Petlibro Feeder Issues
- Schedule not running? Make sure you tapped save after setting meal times. Also verify the timezone is correct.
- Jammed hopper: Kibble pieces bridge together at the opening. Shake the feeder or break up the jam by hand. Smaller kibble prevents recurrence.
- Use only dry kibble. Wet or semi-moist food clogs the mechanism.
- Portion accuracy: Each "portion" is a volume, not a weight. Different kibble sizes fill it differently. Test and adjust per-meal portions for your food.
- Replace backup batteries annually even if unused -- old batteries can leak.
PetSafe Smart Feed Problems
- Slow feed mode dispenses over 15 minutes instead of all at once. Enable it if your pet eats too fast.
- Not getting notifications? Check notification permissions for the PetSafe app in your phone settings.
- App not connecting but feeder still works? The schedule runs locally on the device. Restart the feeder to restore the app connection.
Smart Fountain Maintenance (Petlibro)
- Clean every 1-2 weeks. Disassemble fully and scrub the pump and basin. Biofilm builds up quickly.
- Replace the filter every 2-4 weeks depending on water hardness.
- Pump running loud? Water level is low or debris is caught in the impeller. Top off and clean the pump.
Voice Control
Link the manufacturer account in Alexa or Google Home. Common commands: "Feed the cat," "Dispense treats," or "Show me the pet camera." Scheduled feedings continue offline -- only remote control needs internet.
When to Contact Support
Contact the manufacturer if the feeder motor makes grinding noises without dispensing, the camera produces distorted video after power cycling, or the device will not enter pairing mode after factory reset. A motor that runs but does not turn the dispenser signals internal gear failure requiring replacement.
