Sensibo and Cielo Breez controllers make mini-split and window AC units smart via IR control. This guide covers common issues with these devices.
Device Won't Connect to WiFi
Initial setup problems:
- 2.4GHz network: Both brands only support 2.4GHz WiFi
- Pairing mode: Follow app instructions for putting device in pairing mode
- Bluetooth setup: Sensibo uses Bluetooth for initial configuration
- Reset device: Use reset button (pin hole) to factory reset
- Password: Avoid special characters in WiFi password initially
AC Not Responding to Commands
When commands don't control your AC:
- IR line of sight: Device must have clear path to AC unit's IR receiver
- AC model: Select correct AC brand and model in app
- Manual learn: If auto-detect fails, manually learn remote commands
- Positioning: Mount device facing AC unit, typically 1-5 meters away
- Test commands: Use test function in app to verify IR is reaching AC
Temperature Readings Incorrect
Sensor accuracy issues:
- Placement: Don't mount in direct sunlight or near heat sources
- Calibration: Some apps allow temperature offset calibration
- External sensor: Sensibo Air Pro and some Cielo models support external sensors
- Room vs AC: Understand difference between room temp and AC's internal reading
HomeKit Integration (Sensibo)
For Sensibo with HomeKit:
- HomeKit code: Find code in Sensibo app under device settings
- Climate entity: Appears as heater/cooler in Home app
- Modes: Heat, cool, auto modes available based on your AC's capabilities
- Automations: Can automate based on temperature, time, or presence
Home Assistant Integration
Local and cloud control with HA:
- Sensibo integration: Official integration available - needs API key from sensibo.com
- Cielo: No official integration - may need custom component
- Climate control: Full HVAC control through climate entity
- SmartIR: Alternative: use Broadlink + SmartIR for local-only control
Scheduling and Geofencing
Automation features:
- Schedules: Set up time-based schedules in respective apps
- Geofence: Enable location access for presence-based automation
- Climate React: Sensibo's feature to maintain temperature range automatically
- Usage reports: Both apps provide energy usage estimates
