The Philips Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor is a battery-powered Zigbee motion detector built for exterior use with an IP54 weather-resistant rating. It detects motion at distances up to 40 feet with a 100-degree detection angle, automatically triggering Hue lights when movement is sensed—ideal for pathways, driveways, porches, and garden areas.

The sensor includes a built-in ambient light detector that prevents lights from activating during daylight hours, conserving energy and extending the life of outdoor bulbs. Through the Hue app, you configure which lights respond, what brightness and color they activate to, how long they stay on after motion stops, and sensitivity levels to reduce false triggers from animals or passing cars. Multiple time-based behaviors let you set different responses for day, evening, and night.

Connecting to the Philips Hue Bridge via Zigbee, the sensor integrates with the full Hue ecosystem and is accessible through Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Home Assistant. Two AA batteries provide approximately two years of operation. The included mounting bracket allows wall or corner installation with adjustable angle positioning for optimal detection coverage.
