SmartThings Motion Sensor

The SmartThings Motion Sensor detects movement using passive infrared technology to trigger automations and alerts through the SmartThings ecosystem. The compact sensor enables presence-based smart home control, security monitoring, and energy-saving automations throughout your home.

Zigbee connectivity communicates through SmartThings Hub for reliable, local control. Motion detection triggers can automate lights when you enter rooms, adjust thermostats based on occupancy, arm security modes when everyone leaves, or send alerts when motion occurs in monitored areas.

The integrated temperature sensor provides additional data for automations—trigger fans when temperatures rise, receive alerts for freezing conditions, or coordinate HVAC with occupancy for efficient comfort control. This dual capability increases the sensor's automation value.

The compact design mounts on walls, shelves, or ceilings with included hardware. Battery operation (CR2450) provides approximately two years of use with low-battery alerts. The SmartThings app enables automation creation, sensitivity adjustment, and status monitoring.
