Eve Door & Window

The Eve Door & Window contact sensor monitors the open/closed state of doors, windows, gates, and cabinets with Apple HomeKit integration. The two-piece design consists of a sensor module containing the reed switch and electronics, plus a small magnet piece—when separated beyond the detection range, the sensor reports the opening to your smart home system.

Thread connectivity provides responsive, reliable communication through your home's Thread mesh network, with Bluetooth as fallback. As a Minimal Thread Device (MTD), the battery-powered sensor conserves energy while benefiting from Thread's mesh networking through nearby Full Thread Devices. A Thread border router (HomePod mini, Apple TV 4K) is required for Thread operation.

Apple HomeKit integration enables powerful automations based on open/closed state. Turn on lights when a door opens, receive notifications when windows are opened while you're away, trigger scenes when entering rooms, or create security alerts. The Eve app provides detailed history logs showing every open and close event with timestamps.

The compact design (sensor: 2.1 x 1.0 x 0.9 inches, magnet: 0.7 x 0.7 x 0.3 inches) installs easily with included adhesive strips. Works on doors, windows, sliding doors, cabinets, and more. Battery life of 6-12 months with included ER14250 lithium battery. No cloud, registration, or bridge required—completely local HomeKit operation. Matter firmware updates are expected to extend compatibility.
