SwitchBot Contact Sensor (Matter)

The SwitchBot Contact Sensor with Matter support monitors the open/closed status of doors, windows, and other openings while providing broad smart home platform compatibility through Matter certification. This two-piece magnetic sensor consists of a main unit with the electronics and a smaller magnet piece that triggers detection when separated.

Matter over WiFi connectivity (through SwitchBot Hub 2, sold separately) enables native integration with Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings. The sensor appears in all connected platforms simultaneously, allowing automations and notifications through whichever app you prefer.

Beyond basic open/closed detection, the sensor includes additional features in the SwitchBot ecosystem. A motion detection function using infrared can detect presence, while the light sensor measures ambient brightness. The integrated button can trigger SwitchBot scenes when pressed. These extended features work through the SwitchBot app.

Create automations across platforms—turn on lights when doors open, receive alerts when windows are opened while away, or trigger security responses. Battery-powered operation provides up to two years of use with replaceable CR123A battery. The compact design installs with included adhesive strips. Home Assistant integration available through the SwitchBot API or Matter.
