What's in the Box
The iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max package should include: the Roomba Combo 10 Max robot vacuum and mop, the AutoWash Dock (with auto-empty and self-cleaning mopping pad wash), a power cord, a side brush, a mopping pad, an auto-empty bag, and the quick start guide. Inspect all components for damage before you begin setup.
Prerequisites
Have the following ready before starting:
- A 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WiFi network with the password
- The iRobot Home app installed on your iOS or Android smartphone
- A flat surface near a wall outlet for the AutoWash Dock, with at least 1.5 feet of clearance on each side and 4 feet of open space in front
- Clean, clutter-free floors for the initial mapping run — pick up cables, shoes, and small items
Step-by-Step Setup
- Set up the AutoWash Dock: Place the AutoWash Dock against a wall on a hard, level surface. Plug in the power cord. The AutoWash Dock handles auto-emptying the dustbin and washing the mopping pad. Install an auto-empty bag in the top compartment, and fill the dock's clean water reservoir with fresh water. Make sure the dirty water tank is empty and properly seated.
- Prepare the Roomba Combo 10 Max: Remove all packaging materials, protective films, and tape from the robot. Install the side brush on the underside. The Roomba Combo 10 Max features SmartScrub technology with a retractable mopping pad — attach the mopping pad to the magnetic mount on the bottom of the robot. Fill the onboard water tank with clean water if applicable.
- Charge the robot: Dock the Roomba Combo 10 Max on the AutoWash Dock to start charging. The light ring indicates charging status. Allow a full charge of approximately 2 to 3 hours before the first cleaning run.
- Pair with the iRobot Home app: Open the iRobot Home app, sign in or register, and tap "+" to add a device. Select "Roomba Combo 10 Max." Follow the in-app instructions to connect the robot to your WiFi network. Press and hold the Home and Spot Clean buttons on the robot when prompted until the pairing tone plays.
- Run the initial mapping session: Start a mapping run from the app. The Roomba Combo 10 Max uses advanced PrecisionVision Navigation to build a detailed floor plan while recognizing and avoiding obstacles using its onboard camera and sensors. Leave all doors open and lights on. The SmartScrub system allows the robot to scrub back and forth on hard floors during mopping for deeper cleaning.
- Customize your map and settings: After the map is generated, use the iRobot Home app to name rooms, set cleaning modes per room (vacuum, mop, or both), adjust suction power and mopping intensity, and create keep-out zones. Schedule automated cleaning sessions and configure the AutoWash Dock's self-cleaning frequency.
Smart Home Integration Tips
The Roomba Combo 10 Max works with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and IFTTT. Link your iRobot account in the Alexa or Google Home app to enable commands like "Alexa, ask Roomba to clean the kitchen" or "Hey Google, start mopping." IFTTT integrations let you trigger cleaning when other smart home events occur, such as leaving home detected by a smart lock or security system. The iRobot Home app's iRobot OS provides intelligent cleaning suggestions, automatically adjusting schedules based on your habits, allergy seasons, and pet activity.
Quick Troubleshooting
If the robot won't pair, confirm you're on a 2.4 GHz WiFi network during initial setup. Reset WiFi by holding the Home and Spot Clean buttons for 20 seconds. If the AutoWash Dock isn't cleaning the mopping pad, check that the clean water tank is full and the dirty water tank isn't overflowing. If auto-empty isn't working, ensure the bag is properly installed and has room. If SmartScrub mopping seems ineffective, verify the mopping pad is properly attached and not heavily worn. Check the iRobot Home app for firmware updates after initial setup.
