What's in the Box
The Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 is a robot vacuum and mop combo that handles both floor types in a single cleaning session. Inside the box, you'll find the Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 robot, a self-empty base station, a mopping pad, side brushes, an extra filter, and a quick start guide. The Matrix Plus features precision home mapping, methodical row-by-row cleaning, and the ability to vacuum and mop simultaneously, saving you from running separate cleaning cycles.
Prerequisites
Before setting up your Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1, make sure you have:
- A smartphone with the SharkClean app installed (available on iOS and Android)
- A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (the robot does not connect to 5 GHz networks)
- A flat, open area near a wall outlet to place the self-empty base — the robot needs about 3 feet of clearance on each side and 4 feet in front of the base
- Floors cleared of small objects, cords, and loose rugs that could obstruct the robot during its initial mapping run
Step-by-Step Setup
- Place the self-empty base against a wall on a hard, flat surface. Plug it into a wall outlet. The base needs to stay in the same location permanently, as the robot uses it as a reference point for its map.
- Remove all packaging materials and tape from the robot, including any protective film on the sensors. Install the side brushes by snapping them onto the posts on the bottom of the robot.
- If you plan to use the mopping feature, attach the mopping pad to the bottom of the robot. Fill the onboard water tank with clean water (do not use cleaning solutions unless Shark-approved).
- Place the robot on the base station to charge. The initial charge takes approximately three hours. The robot's lights will indicate charging status — a solid light means fully charged.
- While the robot charges, download and open the SharkClean app. Create a Shark account or sign in. Tap Add a Product and select your Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 model. Follow the app's instructions to connect the robot to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Once charged and connected, send the robot on its first mapping run from the app. The robot will systematically drive through your home to create a detailed floor plan. This initial run may take longer than a normal cleaning cycle because the robot prioritizes thorough exploration. Do not interrupt the mapping run.
- After the map is complete, review it in the SharkClean app. Label rooms by name and set room-specific cleaning preferences — for example, vacuum-only in carpeted rooms and vacuum-plus-mop in hard floor rooms.
Smart Home Integration Tips
- The Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Link the SharkClean skill in your voice assistant's app to start, stop, or dock the robot by voice — say "Alexa, tell Shark to clean the kitchen."
- Set up scheduled cleanings in the SharkClean app. You can create different schedules for different rooms and days of the week, choosing vacuum-only or vacuum-and-mop for each.
- The self-empty base holds up to 60 days of debris, but you'll still need to empty it periodically. The app will notify you when the base is full.
- Create no-go zones in the app's map editor to prevent the robot from entering areas with pet bowls, fragile furniture, or areas where you don't want mopping.
Quick Troubleshooting
If the robot won't connect to Wi-Fi, make sure you're using a 2.4 GHz network — many modern routers combine bands, so check your router settings. If the mapping run produces an incomplete map, clear the floor of obstacles and run the mapping cycle again. For the mopping feature, ensure the water tank is filled and the mopping pad is securely attached. If the robot gets stuck frequently, check for low-clearance furniture or transitions between floor types that may need no-go zones. Clean the robot's sensors with a dry cloth if it starts bumping into objects it previously avoided.
