What You'll Need

  • Amazon Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen)
  • TV with HDMI port
  • High-speed HDMI cable (included)
  • Wi-Fi network name and password
  • Amazon account

Step 1: Position the Fire TV Cube

Place your Fire TV Cube 1-2 feet away from any speakers for optimal voice recognition. Don't place it inside a closed cabinet as it needs to hear your voice commands.

Step 2: Connect the Hardware

Plug the power adapter into an outlet, then connect it to your Fire TV Cube. Connect one end of the HDMI cable to your TV and the other end to the HDMI OUT port on the Cube. Turn on your TV and switch to the correct HDMI input.

Step 3: Set Up the Remote

Insert the included AAA batteries into the Alexa Voice Remote. The remote should automatically pair with the Cube. If it doesn't pair within 10 seconds, press and hold the Home button until "Press Play/Pause to start" appears on screen.

Step 4: Connect to Wi-Fi

Use your phone to scan the on-screen QR code for automatic Wi-Fi setup, or use the remote to manually select your network and enter the password.

Step 5: Sign In to Amazon

Scan the on-screen QR code with your phone, or visit amazon.com/code and enter the activation code shown on your TV. Sign in with your Amazon account credentials.

Step 6: Configure Equipment Control

Follow the on-screen prompts to set up control for your TV, soundbar, and other connected devices. The Fire TV Cube can control power and volume for compatible equipment.

Optional Connections

  • Ethernet: For wired internet, connect an Ethernet cable to the port on the back
  • HDMI Input: Connect a cable box, gaming console, or Blu-ray player to control them with Alexa
  • Echo Speakers: Pair wirelessly with compatible Echo devices for enhanced audio

Using Alexa

Say "Alexa" to the Fire TV Cube or press the voice button on your remote to:

  • Search for movies and TV shows
  • Control playback (play, pause, rewind)
  • Launch apps and channels
  • Control smart home devices
  • Check weather, news, and more

Troubleshooting

  • Remote won't pair: Hold Back and Home buttons together for 10 seconds, then try again
  • No sound: Check HDMI connection and TV audio settings; try a different HDMI port
  • Alexa not responding: Ensure Cube isn't muted; check for obstructions blocking microphones
  • Slow performance: Restart by unplugging for 30 seconds, or check for software updates
