What You Will Need
- Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen)
- TV with an HDMI port
- Wi-Fi network (2.4GHz or 5GHz, Wi-Fi 6E supported)
- USB power cable and power adapter (included)
- HDMI extender cable (included, for tight spaces)
- Alexa Voice Remote Enhanced (included)
- An Amazon account
Step 1: Connect the Fire TV Stick to Your TV
- Plug the Fire TV Stick 4K Max directly into an available HDMI port on your TV.
- If the stick does not fit due to nearby ports or the TV's design, use the included HDMI extender cable to create more clearance.
- Connect the USB power cable to the micro-USB port on the Fire TV Stick, then plug the other end into the included power adapter and connect it to a wall outlet. Do not use your TV's USB port for power, as it may not provide enough wattage for reliable operation.
Step 2: Turn On Your TV and Pair the Remote
- Turn on your TV and switch to the HDMI input where the Fire TV Stick is connected.
- The Fire TV Stick will boot up and display the Fire TV logo on screen.
- The included Alexa Voice Remote Enhanced should pair automatically. If it does not, press and hold the Home button for 10 seconds until the remote enters pairing mode.
- Press the Play/Pause button on the remote when prompted to confirm the connection.
Step 3: Select Language and Connect to Wi-Fi
- Select your preferred language from the list using the remote.
- Choose your Wi-Fi network and enter the password. The Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen) supports Wi-Fi 6E, which provides access to the 6GHz band for the fastest streaming with minimal interference from other devices.
- If you have a WPS-enabled router, you can connect by selecting the WPS option and pressing the WPS button on your router.
- The device will connect and check for updates. Allow it to download and install any available firmware updates before proceeding.
Step 4: Sign In to Amazon
- Sign in to your Amazon account. The fastest method is to visit amazon.com/code on your phone or computer and enter the code shown on your TV screen.
- Alternatively, use the remote to type your email and password directly on screen.
- If your account has parental controls or an Amazon Household set up, you will be prompted to choose a profile.
Step 5: Set Up TV and Equipment Controls
- The setup wizard will offer to configure the remote to control your TV's power and volume. Select your TV brand from the list.
- The remote will send a test signal. Press "Yes" if your TV turned off and back on correctly.
- If you have a soundbar or A/V receiver, set up volume control for that device as well so the remote's volume buttons work with your audio equipment.
- Once configured, the remote's power button will turn your TV on and off, and the volume buttons will control your TV or soundbar directly.
Step 6: Install Your Streaming Apps
- After setup, you will be prompted to download popular streaming apps. Select the services you subscribe to, such as Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, YouTube, HBO Max, Apple TV+, and others.
- The Fire TV Stick 4K Max supports 4K Ultra HD, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and Dolby Atmos audio. Enable these in your streaming apps' settings for the best picture and sound quality.
- Sign in to each streaming service individually with your account credentials.
Step 7: Set Up Ambient Experience (Optional)
The Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen) includes the Ambient Experience, which turns your TV into a smart display showing art, photos, widgets, and Alexa information when not streaming content.
- During setup or later in Settings > Ambient Experience, enable the feature.
- Choose from curated art galleries, your Amazon Photos, or Alexa widgets that display weather, calendar events, and smart home controls.
- The Ambient Experience activates automatically when your Fire TV is idle, turning your TV into a functional smart display.
Tips
- The Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen) includes a 2.0 GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM, making it faster than the standard Fire TV Stick 4K.
- Use the dedicated app buttons on the Alexa Voice Remote Enhanced to jump directly to services like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, and Hulu with one press.
- Press and hold the Alexa button on the remote and say "Find action movies" or "Search for The Office" to quickly find content across all your installed apps.
- For the best 4K HDR experience, connect the Fire TV Stick to an HDMI port that supports HDMI 2.1 or HDCP 2.2 on your TV.
