What You'll Need
- Anker Soundcore Flare 2
- Soundcore app (iOS or Android)
- Bluetooth-enabled phone or tablet
- USB-C cable (included) for charging
Step-by-Step Setup
- Charge the speaker using the included USB-C cable. A full charge takes about 3 to 4 hours and gives you up to 12 hours of playback.
- Power on by pressing and holding the power button on top until you hear a tone and the LED light ring activates.
- Enable Bluetooth on your phone and look for "Soundcore Flare 2" in your available devices.
- Pair the speaker:
- The Flare 2 enters pairing mode automatically on first boot
- Tap "Soundcore Flare 2" in your phone's Bluetooth list to connect
- Download the Soundcore app for additional features like custom EQ and light control.
- Customize the LED light ring in the app. Choose from several lighting modes including pulse, color cycle, and static colors.
Placement and Sound Tips
The Flare 2 delivers 360-degree sound with Anker's BassUp technology, which analyzes the low frequencies in real time and boosts them. It sounds best on a hard, flat surface like a table or countertop where the bass can resonate. Avoid placing it on carpet or a soft surface that absorbs the low end.
The LED light ring on the bottom adds a party atmosphere. It pulses and changes color with the beat of the music. For outdoor gatherings at night, this feature really stands out. You can control the light modes through the app or turn the lights off entirely if you just want audio.
With IPX7 waterproof protection, the Flare 2 handles pool parties, beach trips, and bathroom use without any issues. It survives being submerged in up to 3 feet of water for 30 minutes.
Custom EQ and Sound Modes
The Soundcore app includes a custom EQ with multiple presets and a manual option. The default sound profile is fairly bass-forward, which works great for pop and electronic music. For acoustic, jazz, or vocal-heavy tracks, try dialing the bass back a bit and boosting the mids and treble for more clarity. The app also has a BassUp toggle that you can turn on or off depending on your preference.
PartyCast Multi-Speaker
The PartyCast feature lets you connect two Flare 2 speakers together for louder sound or use them as a stereo pair with left and right channels. Both speakers need the PartyCast feature (most newer Soundcore models have it). Press the PartyCast button on each speaker to link them. This works over Bluetooth and does not require Wi-Fi.
Troubleshooting
- Bluetooth not finding the speaker: If the speaker did not auto-enter pairing mode, press and hold the Bluetooth button for about 2 seconds. The LED will flash to indicate pairing mode. Then check your phone's Bluetooth settings.
- LED lights not working: Press the light button on the speaker to cycle through modes. If nothing happens, check the Soundcore app to see if the lights have been turned off in settings.
- PartyCast not connecting: Both speakers need to support PartyCast (check the model specs). Make sure both are powered on and within Bluetooth range of each other. Firmware updates through the Soundcore app can resolve compatibility issues.
- Sound distortion at max volume: The Flare 2 can distort when pushed to full volume, especially with BassUp enabled. Lower the volume a notch or two, or turn off BassUp for cleaner sound at higher levels.
- Factory reset: Press and hold the Play/Pause button and Volume Up button together for about 3 seconds. The speaker will reset its Bluetooth pairings and settings.
