The Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensor T1 is an updated Zigbee sensor that monitors temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure in your home. The T1 version features a more compact design and improved accuracy compared to the original sensor. It connects to your Aqara Hub and reports environmental data to the Aqara Home app for monitoring and automation.
What You Will Need
- Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensor T1
- Aqara Hub (M2, M3, or Camera Hub G3) already set up on your network
- Aqara Home app installed on your smartphone (iOS or Android)
- CR2032 coin cell battery (included)
Preparing the Sensor
- Remove the sensor from its packaging.
- Pull the battery isolation tab to activate the CR2032 battery.
- The LED should flash once to confirm the sensor is powered on.
Pairing with Your Aqara Hub
- Open the Aqara Home app on your smartphone.
- Tap the + icon in the upper-right corner.
- Select Temperature and Humidity Sensor T1 from the device list, or scan the QR code on the packaging.
- Choose the Aqara Hub you want to pair with.
- Press and hold the reset button on the sensor for 5 seconds until the LED flashes rapidly.
- Wait for the app to discover and connect the sensor.
- Assign it to a room and give it a name such as "Bedroom T1 Climate" or "Nursery Monitor."
Choosing the Best Placement
Sensor placement directly impacts the accuracy and usefulness of your readings:
- Place the sensor at desk or shelf height for readings that reflect the conditions where you spend time, rather than on the floor or near the ceiling.
- Keep the sensor away from direct heat sources — radiators, heating vents, ovens, and sunny windowsills will give artificially high temperature readings.
- Avoid placing the sensor directly next to or underneath air conditioning units, which will give artificially low readings.
- Do not place the sensor in enclosed spaces like drawers or cabinets unless you specifically want to monitor those enclosed conditions.
- For the most representative readings, place the sensor near the center of the room, away from exterior walls.
- Ensure the sensor is within Zigbee range of your hub, typically 10 to 15 meters with minimal wall obstructions.
Viewing Your Data
Open the sensor tile in the Aqara Home app to view:
- Temperature — Displayed in Celsius or Fahrenheit (adjustable in app settings). The T1 offers improved accuracy over the original sensor.
- Humidity — Shown as a relative humidity percentage. For comfort and health, indoor humidity should generally stay between 30% and 60%.
- Atmospheric pressure — Measured in kPa, useful for weather-sensitive individuals or tracking barometric trends.
- Historical charts — View trends over days and weeks to understand patterns in your home environment.
Setting Up Climate Automations
- Go to the Automations tab in the Aqara Home app.
- Tap + to create a new automation.
- Select the Temperature and Humidity Sensor T1 as the trigger.
- Choose a condition such as "Temperature rises above 27°C" or "Humidity drops below 35%."
- Add your desired action and save the automation.
Practical automation ideas:
- Smart fan control — Turn on a fan connected to an Aqara Smart Plug when the temperature exceeds your comfort threshold.
- Humidifier automation — Activate a humidifier when humidity drops below 35% during winter months, and turn it off when humidity reaches 50%.
- Dehumidifier for basements — Trigger a dehumidifier when humidity rises above 60% to prevent mold and mildew.
- Freeze warning — Send a notification if the temperature drops below 5°C in an unheated garage, cabin, or vacation home.
- IR-based AC control — If you have a Hub M2 with its built-in IR blaster, control your air conditioner based on real-time temperature readings from the T1 sensor.
- Window reminder — Notify you to open windows when indoor temperature exceeds outdoor temperature on a pleasant day (using two sensors, one inside and one outside).
Improvements Over the Original Sensor
- Improved accuracy — The T1 provides more precise temperature and humidity measurements.
- Compact design — Smaller and more discreet than the original sensor, making it easier to place without being visually intrusive.
- Faster reporting — The T1 updates readings more frequently and responds to environmental changes more quickly.
Multi-Room Monitoring
For comprehensive climate monitoring, deploy T1 sensors in multiple rooms. This lets you:
- Identify hot spots and cold spots in your home.
- Compare temperatures between floors or rooms.
- Create room-specific climate automations for personalized comfort.
- Monitor a vacation home, wine cellar, or server room remotely.
Tips
- The CR2032 battery typically lasts about two years. The app will alert you when the battery is low.
- Readings update every few minutes, not in real time. After a sudden change in temperature (such as opening a window), allow a couple of minutes for the sensor to reflect the new conditions.
- If the sensor consistently reports readings that seem off, check its placement for nearby heat or cold sources.
- Keep the firmware updated through the Aqara Home app for the best accuracy and reliability.
