The Aqara Wireless Mini Switch is a compact, battery-powered Zigbee button that can trigger smart home actions with a single press, double press, or long press. It requires no wiring and can be placed anywhere in your home or carried in your pocket, making it one of the most versatile controllers in the Aqara ecosystem.

What You Will Need

  • Aqara Wireless Mini Switch
  • Aqara Hub (M2, M3, or Camera Hub G3) already set up on your network
  • Aqara Home app installed on your smartphone (iOS or Android)
  • CR2032 coin cell battery (included)

Preparing the Switch

  1. Remove the Mini Switch from its packaging.
  2. Pull the plastic battery isolation tab from the side of the switch to activate the CR2032 battery.
  3. The LED on the front of the switch should blink once to confirm it has power.

Pairing with Your Aqara Hub

  1. Open the Aqara Home app on your smartphone.
  2. Tap the + icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select Wireless Mini Switch from the device list, or scan the QR code on the packaging.
  4. Choose the Aqara Hub you want to pair this switch with.
  5. Press and hold the button on the Mini Switch for approximately 5 seconds until the LED begins flashing rapidly, indicating pairing mode.
  6. Wait for the app to discover and connect to the switch.
  7. Assign the switch to a room and give it a descriptive name like "Bedside Button" or "Kitchen Toggle."

Understanding the Three Actions

The Mini Switch supports three distinct press types, and each one can be assigned a different automation:

  • Single press — One quick tap of the button.
  • Double press — Two quick taps in rapid succession.
  • Long press — Press and hold the button for about 2 seconds, then release.

This gives you three separate actions from a single button, which is ideal for controlling multiple devices or scenes.

Setting Up Automations

The real power of the Mini Switch comes from the automations you assign to it. Here are some practical examples:

  1. Open the Automations tab in the Aqara Home app.
  2. Tap + to create a new automation.
  3. Select Wireless Mini Switch as the trigger and choose the press type (single, double, or long).
  4. Add one or more actions — for example, toggle a smart light, activate a scene, or trigger your hub alarm.
  5. Save the automation and test it by pressing the button.

Common automation ideas:

  • Single press — Toggle the bedroom lights on or off.
  • Double press — Activate a "Goodnight" scene that turns off all lights, locks the door, and arms motion sensors.
  • Long press — Trigger your Aqara Hub's alarm siren as a panic button.

Placement Options

The Mini Switch is incredibly flexible in where and how you can use it:

  • Adhesive mount — Use the included 3M adhesive pad to stick the switch to a wall, nightstand, or any smooth surface. This works well as a bedside smart light controller.
  • Magnetic mount — The switch has a magnetic backing and can attach to refrigerators, metal shelves, or other magnetic surfaces.
  • Portable use — Carry it in your pocket or bag as a remote control for quick scene activation.
  • Wall mount near an existing switch — Place it beside a regular light switch to add smart control capabilities without rewiring.

HomeKit Integration

If your Aqara Hub is connected to Apple HomeKit, the Mini Switch will appear as a programmable button in the Apple Home app. You can assign HomeKit actions directly from the Home app, giving you an additional layer of control beyond the Aqara Home app automations.

Tips

  • The CR2032 battery typically lasts about two years with normal use.
  • To replace the battery, twist or pry open the back cover, swap the battery with the positive side facing up, and snap the cover back on.
  • If the switch stops responding, reset it by holding the button for 10 seconds, then re-pair it in the app.
  • You can use multiple Mini Switches throughout your home, each assigned to different automations.
