What's in the Box

The Blink Outdoor 4 package includes the camera unit, two AA lithium batteries, a mounting bracket, a screw and wall anchor set, a USB-C sync cable (for initial setup), and a quick-start guide. If you purchased the bundle with a Sync Module 2, that will be included as a separate item with its own power adapter and USB cable. The Blink Outdoor 4 is fully weatherproof with an IP65 rating, so it is built for permanent outdoor installation.

Prerequisites

Download the Blink app on your iOS or Android device and create or sign into your Blink account. The Blink Outdoor 4 requires a Blink Sync Module 2 for operation — if you do not already have one, make sure you have the bundle that includes it. You will need a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network with a strong signal where you plan to mount the camera. Have a Phillips-head screwdriver or drill available for mounting the bracket outdoors.

Step-by-Step Sync Module Setup

  1. Plug the Sync Module 2 into a power outlet using the included adapter. Wait for the LED on the module to show a steady blue light combined with a blinking green light.
  2. Open the Blink app, tap the "+" icon, and select "Sync Module 2." Scan the QR code on the module.
  3. Follow the app prompts to connect the Sync Module to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Once connected, the module's LED turns solid green.
  4. Optionally, insert a USB flash drive (up to 256 GB) into the Sync Module's USB port for local video storage as a backup or alternative to cloud storage.

Step-by-Step Camera Setup

  1. Open the battery compartment on the back of the Blink Outdoor 4 by pressing the latch and removing the back cover. Insert the two AA lithium batteries, noting the correct polarity markings.
  2. Replace the back cover and ensure it clicks securely to maintain the weatherproof seal.
  3. In the Blink app, tap the "+" icon and select "Blink Outdoor 4." Scan the QR code on the camera.
  4. The app will pair the camera with your Sync Module. The camera's LED will flash blue during the pairing process and turn solid once connected.
  5. Name the camera and assign it to a system in the app.

Outdoor Mounting

Choose a location 8 to 10 feet high for optimal motion detection coverage. The Blink Outdoor 4 has a 143-degree field of view, so angle it slightly downward toward the area you want to monitor. Use the included bracket and screws to mount it on siding, brick, or wood. If mounting on brick or concrete, drill pilot holes and use the wall anchors. Route the mounting bracket so the camera sits under an eave if possible, which helps keep the lens clear in rain.

Smart Home Integration Tips

The Blink Outdoor 4 integrates with Amazon Alexa for live viewing and motion-triggered announcements on Echo devices. Link your Blink account in the Alexa app and create routines that announce on your Echo speakers when the camera detects motion. You can also view the live feed on any Echo Show or Fire TV device. The Blink Outdoor 4 does not natively support Google Home or Apple HomeKit.

Quick Troubleshooting

If the camera does not pair, ensure it is within 100 feet of the Sync Module and that the module's LED is solid green. Replace the AA batteries if the camera LED does not light up at all. Weak outdoor Wi-Fi signal is the most common installation issue — consider a Wi-Fi extender or moving the Sync Module to a closer outlet if pairing fails due to signal strength.
