What You'll Need
- Denon Home 150
- HEOS app (iOS or Android)
- Wi-Fi network
Step-by-Step Setup
- Position the speaker and connect the power cable. The Denon Home 150 is compact and fits comfortably on a nightstand, bookshelf, or desk.
- Download the HEOS app and create an account or sign in.
- Add the speaker:
- Open the HEOS app and tap "+" or "Add Device"
- Press the CONNECT button on the back of the speaker. Hold it for a few seconds until the LED starts flashing.
- The app should discover the speaker within 30 seconds
- Connect to your Wi-Fi network:
- Follow the app prompts
- Enter your network name and password
- Link your music services in the HEOS app. Spotify, Amazon Music, TuneIn, Deezer, and many others are supported.
- Set up Quick Select buttons. The three buttons on top can each save a favorite station, playlist, or input for one-touch access.
Placement and Sound Tips
Despite its small size, the Denon Home 150 delivers clear, room-filling sound. It works well as a bedroom speaker, a desk companion for a home office, or a kitchen counter speaker. Place it on a solid surface at ear level for the best experience.
Keep it a couple of inches from the wall. The bass port is on the back, and pushing it flush against the wall will make the low end boomy. If the bass still feels heavy, you can adjust EQ settings in the HEOS app.
The three Quick Select buttons on top are very practical. Long-press any of them while a source is playing to save it. After that, a quick tap plays your saved content immediately. Set one to your morning news station, one to a workout playlist, and one to a radio station for quick access.
Stereo Pair and Multi-Room
Two Denon Home 150 speakers can be paired for stereo playback. In the HEOS app, group them as a stereo pair and assign left and right channels. Place them 3 to 6 feet apart for the best separation. Both speakers need to be the same model.
The HEOS multi-room platform lets you group Denon Home speakers across rooms for synchronized playback. You can also group them with other HEOS-enabled products like Denon AV receivers and soundbars. AirPlay 2 adds another layer of flexibility, letting you group the Home 150 with non-Denon AirPlay speakers as well.
Voice Control
The Denon Home 150 does not have a built-in microphone, but you can control it through Alexa using a separate Echo device. Enable the HEOS skill in the Alexa app, then use voice commands like "Alexa, play music in the bedroom" to control playback on the Denon speaker.
Troubleshooting
- Speaker not discoverable: Press and hold the CONNECT button on the back for about 5 seconds until the LED flashes. Make sure your phone is on the same Wi-Fi network. If the speaker still does not appear, restart both the speaker and the HEOS app.
- Audio dropouts or buffering: Check your Wi-Fi signal strength at the speaker's location. If it is weak, try moving the speaker closer to the router. Switching to the 5GHz Wi-Fi band often reduces interference and improves streaming stability.
- Stereo pair out of sync: Both speakers need to be on the same network and running the same firmware. Check for updates in the HEOS app. Restart both speakers if sync issues persist.
- Quick Select buttons not saving: Make sure the content you are trying to save is playing through a linked service in the HEOS app. Long-press the button for about 3 seconds until you hear a confirmation tone.
- Factory reset: Press and hold the CONNECT button and the Mute button together for about 5 seconds until the LED flashes. The speaker will restart in factory default mode.
