What's in the Box
Your Govee Neon Rope Light (10ft) package includes the flexible neon rope light, a control box, a power adapter, mounting clips with adhesive backs, a quick start guide, and a set of screws for optional permanent mounting. The neon rope light features a silicone diffuser that creates a smooth, even glow without visible LED dots, giving it a genuine neon sign appearance. The RGBIC technology inside allows multiple colors to display simultaneously along the rope.
Prerequisites
- A smartphone with the Govee Home app installed (available on iOS and Android)
- A stable 2.4GHz WiFi network with the password ready
- A Govee Home account created and verified
- A wall or surface where you want to shape and mount the rope light
- A power outlet within reach of the control box
- Optional: pencil and painter's tape to outline your design before mounting
Planning Your Design
The neon rope light is flexible enough to bend into curves, letters, shapes, and abstract designs on a wall or shelf. Before mounting, use painter's tape or a pencil to lightly sketch your intended shape on the wall. The rope is 10 feet long and approximately 0.4 inches in diameter, so plan accordingly. Keep in mind that while the rope bends easily into curves, very tight angles under one inch in radius may stress the internal LEDs. Position the starting end of the rope near a power outlet where the control box will sit.
Step-by-Step Installation
- Clean the mounting surface with a damp cloth to remove dust and let it dry completely.
- Starting from the control box end, begin shaping the rope light along your planned design. Work slowly, bending the flexible silicone into your desired curves and shapes.
- As you go, peel the adhesive backing off the mounting clips and press them firmly against the wall to hold the rope in place. Space the clips every 4 to 6 inches along straight sections and more closely around curves.
- For sharper bends, use two clips placed close together on either side of the curve to maintain the shape without kinking the rope.
- Once the rope is fully mounted in your design, connect it to the control box and plug the power adapter into the control box and wall outlet.
App Pairing
- Turn on the rope light by pressing the button on the control box. The light will illuminate and the indicator on the control box will flash.
- Open the Govee Home app and tap the "+" icon to add a new device.
- Find the Neon Rope Light in the device list or scan the product QR code.
- Enable Bluetooth on your phone and follow the prompts to pair the device.
- Enter your 2.4GHz WiFi credentials when prompted for remote access and voice assistant support.
- Give the light a descriptive name like "Bedroom Neon" or "Game Room Sign."
Smart Home Integration Tips
The Govee Neon Rope Light works with Alexa and Google Assistant. After linking your Govee account, use voice commands to turn the light on or off, change colors, or activate scenes. The RGBIC capability produces beautiful flowing color effects along the rope that look especially striking in neon form. The music sync mode uses the control box microphone to pulse colors along the rope in time with ambient audio, making it a great addition to entertainment spaces and gaming setups.
Quick Troubleshooting
If mounting clips do not hold, the surface may need additional cleaning or may have a texture that does not bond well with adhesive. In that case, use the included screws for a more permanent hold. If sections of the rope appear dim, check for spots where the rope may be kinked or bent too tightly and gently straighten those areas. If the device does not pair, make sure the control box indicator is flashing and that your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network with Bluetooth enabled.
