What You'll Need

  • Govee Neon Rope Light (10ft)
  • Smartphone with the Govee app
  • Clean, dry surface for mounting
  • Scissors (if cutting strip)
  • Measuring tape

Step 1: Plan Your Layout

Measure the area where you want to install the light strip. Plan the route, noting any corners or turns. Most strips can be cut at marked intervals.

Step 2: Prepare the Surface

Clean the mounting surface with rubbing alcohol to ensure the adhesive sticks properly. Let it dry completely.

Step 3: Test First

Before mounting, connect the light strip to power and test that it works. This saves headaches later.

Step 4: Set Up in the App

Download the Govee app and add the light strip while it's still accessible. Connect it to your Wi-Fi network and verify control works.

Step 5: Mount the Strip

Peel the adhesive backing and carefully press the strip into place. Work in sections, smoothing as you go. Use mounting clips for extra security on corners.

Step 6: Hide the Controller

Position the power supply and controller box in a hidden location. Ensure adequate ventilation as it may generate some heat.

Cutting and Extending

If you need to cut the strip, only cut at the marked cut lines (usually indicated by scissors icons or copper pads). To extend, use compatible connectors from Govee.

Smart Home Integration

The Govee Neon Rope Light (10ft) uses WiFi and works with Google Home, Amazon Alexa. Create color scenes, sync with music, or set schedules through the app.

Troubleshooting

  • Colors look wrong: Check RGB wire order and connections
  • Sections not lighting: Check for loose connections or damaged segments
  • Falling off: Use additional mounting clips, especially on corners
