What's in the Box

Your Govee RGBIC LED Strip Lights (16.4ft) package includes the LED strip light roll, a control box with a built-in microphone, a power adapter, mounting clips, a cleaning pad, and a quick start guide. The RGBIC technology allows this strip to display multiple colors simultaneously along its length, creating gradient and segmented color effects that standard RGB strips cannot achieve. Note that RGBIC strips cannot be cut or extended, as doing so will damage the individually addressable IC chips.

Prerequisites

  • A smartphone with the Govee Home app installed (available on iOS and Android)
  • A stable 2.4GHz WiFi network with the password ready
  • A Govee Home account created and verified
  • A clean, dry surface for mounting (the adhesive works best on smooth surfaces)
  • A power outlet within reach of where you plan to install the strip
  • Optional: rubbing alcohol and a cloth for cleaning the mounting surface

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Plan your layout before peeling off any adhesive backing. Measure the area where you want to install the strip and decide on your route. Remember, the strip is 16.4 feet long and cannot be cut shorter.
  2. Clean the mounting surface thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or the included cleaning pad to remove dust, grease, and moisture. Allow it to dry completely for the strongest adhesive bond.
  3. Start at the end closest to your power outlet. Peel back a small section of the adhesive backing and press the strip firmly against the surface. Continue peeling and pressing in sections, working your way along your planned route.
  4. For corners, gently bend the strip at a 90-degree angle rather than creasing it sharply. A gentle curve prevents damage to the internal LEDs and IC chips.
  5. Use the included mounting clips at corners and any areas where the strip may sag or pull away from the surface over time.
  6. Connect the strip to the control box, then plug the power adapter into the control box and a wall outlet.

App Pairing

  1. Power on the strip. The LEDs should light up and the control box indicator will begin flashing.
  2. Open the Govee Home app and tap the "+" icon to add a new device.
  3. Select the RGBIC LED Strip from the device list or scan the QR code on the quick start guide.
  4. Enable Bluetooth on your phone and follow the prompts to connect the strip via Bluetooth first.
  5. Enter your 2.4GHz WiFi network credentials when prompted to enable remote control and voice assistant features.
  6. Name the strip based on its location, such as "Bedroom Backlight" or "Desk Underglow."

Smart Home Integration Tips

The Govee RGBIC LED Strip works with Alexa and Google Assistant for voice-controlled operation. After linking your Govee account, you can say "Alexa, turn on the bedroom lights" or "Hey Google, set the desk lights to blue." The RGBIC capability means you can choose from dozens of dynamic scene presets in the Govee Home app, including rainbow flows, fireplace effects, and seasonal themes. The built-in microphone on the control box enables music sync mode, which pulses the lights in time with audio in the room without needing your phone's microphone.

Quick Troubleshooting

If the adhesive does not hold, the mounting surface may not have been clean enough or may have a textured finish. Use the extra mounting clips or consider adding a few small strips of strong double-sided tape. If certain segments appear dimmer or a different color, check that the strip has no sharp bends or kinks that could damage the internal wiring. Never cut an RGBIC strip, as this will break the IC circuit and disable sections of the strip permanently.
